Yeah, that's totally fair. I like it for what it is, and it certainly has more substance in ways than the average gacha. But it's still a gacha at the end of the day.

While some of the free characters are decent, the combination of the element and event bonus systems negate a lot of their value. To an extent, I'd even argue the final fights for most of their acquisitions are utter bullshit you have to look up a guide for, especially if you don't have recommended characters.
As far as gacha stories go, I'd probably give it an 8/10 for up to the end of the 2nd season, can't speak on 3rd, but that's a correspondingly low bar on average. Comparing to the more decent console RPGs, it'd probably be more a 5 or 6. I'm probably one of the bigger proponents on gacha regulation and reform here for the sake of gaming's future, but figured I'd largely interject to say this mechanically is not a CT sequel despite a number of stylistic homages.
Oh, agreed in that mechanically it absolutely is not a CT sequel.
Yeah, looking up the guide sucks. I am glad that I don't feel rushed to log in like a chore, unlike some other gachas.
Well well well...

Totally onboard for this remaster, been a real long time since I last played it too.
Now I just need that FFT remaster announcement.
Honestly, I have zero interest if they do nothing to better bridge the gap with Chrono Trigger. The soundtrack was probably the best thing CC had going for it. Everything else was fairly mediocre, if not forgettable.
It's a remaster, not a remake. They won't magically make it more about CT.
The game is best played thinking of it as a spin off. It is pretty fantastic in its own right, even though it has a shitton of cut content that could've made it better.
Honestly in my mind Cross is better than Trigger. What brings is down is the bloated cast and the dropped storylines relating it to Trigger. God tier OST, unique battle system, moving conclusion and ending.
Remaster guys. Remaster.
This is not a remake like FF7R/Secret of Mana, it's always been posited as a mere remaster. It'll get the same sort of graphical facelift FF8 Remaster got. Expect no material changes to gameplay, story, dialogue, etc.
Edit: what Tyrath said
Yeah, this and FF8 really needed it. Looking back on the original versions now...they look quite bad.
I know its not SE but, Legend of Dragoon remaster where? I think thats gonna be my next emulator replay
First Cross over with CT series, possibly more to come leading up to remaster release?
A remaster with no new content rightfully belongs in the trash.
Don't fucking waste people's time with a slight graphics update.
