They're 100% going to step on XVI's toes.
Wonder if Nomura is a bitter man at all.

This is the worst "marketing" push I've seen in a while
The answers to those questions were takes straight out of FFXI interviews book
Meanwhile Max is fucking hyped from the shitty tweets lol
I'm hyped at the count-down they've done to the SGF and super anxious to see news tonight. But it'd be the most on-brand SE marketing fail to count to 7 tweets for FFVII, end with a tease news is coming soon, then not release any news on the best night to do so.
These tweets brought up news articles that reminded me that they said they were planning a release for winter 2023. I'm honestly surprised they're starting before XVI has even landed though. Wonder if there's any higher up meddling going on with the reports of low FFXVI pre-orders causing panic.
Yoshi-P has the trust of SE execs on the whole, so I don't think they're concerned about an inferior product or perception of one. To me, there are a couple things at play here:
1. The RPG fanbase for PS5 I would be willing to bet is lagging behind Switch and PS4 numbers by a considerable amount. With how much SE is concerned about perception over sales figures in the past, no pre-order figures would have probably made them happy unless it was pulling insane figures.
2. SE views FF7 as a golden goose in many instances, and that it is so evergreen that it can neither harm nor overshadow anything else because it is "FF7".
Still not the best of ideas to cast any shadow over your upcoming flagship release, even if its from another flagship title.
Maybe FF7 Rebirth news will get more people to buy PS5 and FF16 lol
Did I miss the time?

Today, the same Japanese leaker, "I Am A Hero Too", who discussed the FF9 Remake last week...
- stated the FFT Remaster is pretty much finished, they're just looking for an apt release window. Probably before FF9 Remake.
- stated that FF7 Rebirth is specifically coming January 2024. Zack is playable. Game is massive, has zone-based environments but is still smaller than FF16. Deviates from original story much more than Remake did (perhaps 50% is different plot).
- suggested a Final Fantasy X Remake is also a few years into development, targeting its 25th anniversary in 2026 for release.
- promptly had his account deleted at resetera.
So, yeah. I'm confident that everything he said was top-to-bottom, 100% utter bullshit. But we'll see.
There is no way a major title like FF7 Rebirth launches in January. Either you crunch so you don’t miss the holiday season or you release in Spring, but you do NOT release in January.
January this year saw Fire Emblem Engage, Forspoken, and Dead Space
He said major titles.
Gasp
Elden Ring released in February all of a year ago, though most common you don't have to hit the Holiday / Spring windows
Part 1 came out in early April right? I'd expect same time frame for Rebirth. Mar/Apr is my guess
Them reusing so many assets was supposed to be the allure of releasing the remake this way. They should have been able to spend a lot of time on making a dense game being able to reuse so many systems and art.
Seeing Bugenhagen makes me cautiously optimistic well at least get to the northern cave this game for Aeriths death, which is now Tifa or Clouds death. You heard it here first.

Yeah, TPC put out Legends Arceus 01/28/22, IO did Hitman 3 01/20/21, Bamco did DBZ Kakarot 01/17/20.
Consumers are recovering from the holiday, for sure, but the market seems like it can carry 1 "big" (if nothing else "lucrative") title each January.
They could be looking to put more distance between FF16 and FF7R sales, know holiday competitors will perform well enough to take more $$$ out of their pockets, have bigger plans for spring themselves, etc. Who knows? And again, the dude who said January may be lying right out his ass - the trailer just said "Available early 2024 on 2 discs". So we'll see.
The news of FF10R is what's confounding me. It's a great game but... why? Other than "Nomura and Kitase wanted to b/c they like it".
