New rumors the last 24 hours about the FF9 Remake from a twitter leaker named Silknigth (sic).

• Still definitely exists. For real. So not fake, instead definitely real and existing.
• Is attempting to be as faithful as possible to the original, with a much more modest budget than the FF7R project.
• Has apparently been in production for some time, and has weathered a very challenging development.
• Originally intended as a Switch release, the project had to shift and upscale to capabilities of newer hardware.
• Not handled by CBU I or III.
• Expects we will hear nothing about it for another few years (going against other rumors in January suggesting it looked nearly complete... if it indeed is real and all of this isn't us chasing our own tails over lying assholes scoring internet attention).

He also said the FF Tactics remaster will arrive on all platforms by the end of 2024.

Tactics Ogre Reborn was really dope so I have high hopes for a Tactics remaster but as far as IX goes, I’ll believe it when I see it

Super excited for a fft remaster if only for updated animations and score. Kinda hard to improve on the art direction of the original, but I'm willing to not bitch about this prior to release.

both Tactics and IX are clearly in production, hyped for em. both gonna be a lot closer to what they did for VIII's remaster than Remake/Rebirth, kinda doubt they're gonna drop enough resources into IX for a chunky remake.

In all seriousness I do believe Tactics is the rare revered game which is not unrepeatable lightning in a bottle and has such incredible staying power and continued relevance to the genre that so long as it was done with care, a remake or remaster giving us the same story with expanded chapters and adjusted mechanics perhaps with graphical update thrown in to boot would hit just as hard if not harder.

I actually dont want Tactics fully "cut down" to Octopath's aesthetics or the full on FF7R treatment.

Either give me the entire game using War of the Lions cinematic visuals (that brushed cel shaded look), or do it like Unicorn Overlord using War of the Lions visuals for characters animated on HD2D backgrounds.

The WotL script and story doesn't need to change. Update the job mechanics so you cant break the game halfway through Chapter 2, re-record the soundtrack, update some references for Ivalice lore overall, and add in a few new bits where you can (Boss rush, job limited challenge fights, include the full 13 Lucacvi) and you can have my $70.

Who am I kidding. It has my $70 already just so I don't have to play this on UMD. But still...

There is the one rooftop battle you can lose before you ever get a turn if the AI decides it, hope they at least fix that

That's the Slums of Dorter if I remember correctly, where every rooftop has an archer on it and you start 8 levels below them wearing giant bullseyes.

I was thinking he meant Riovanes rooftop, when Celia and Lede can cause havok and not-Sephiroth can bumrush Rafa leading to the loss.
