Not going to lie. I fucking hate this title.
In b4 JarJar is just mimicking Palpatine as the true Sith lord.
He also is somehow the incarnation of Shmi, so the title fits.
Yeah this title is wtf. I dont get it at all, need a story trailer.

Title dumb as fuck, trailer hype as fuck.
Balanced, as all things should be.
The entire progression of these films' titles has been anti-climactic. If we put each trilogy into a mega-trilogy, literally the OT is fucking Empire.
The Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
The Force Awakens
The Last Jedi
Rise of Skywalker
I predict the next trilogy:
The Phantom Hope
A New Empire
The Last Jedi Attack
looks dumb
I like how the description of the movie in articles is shit like "this is going to be the end of the skywalker saga" yet the title of the movie is Rise of Skywalker. I, too, love oxymorons
So... George Lucas fucking hated how Dark Empire brought Palpatine back to life, and specifically put elements in place in the prequel trilogy to invalidate that series. And now he's coming back anyways.
I'll watch it, but I probably won't be happy about it.
Also good lord is Disney bad at titles. All the horribly named Disney+ series and now this. It's not WandaVision bad, but oy.
I'm going to go with either of the following:
1. Palpatine comes back in a Sith Holocron (shown in Clone Wars, Rebels)
2. Palpatine comes back as a Sith Ghost (not sure Sith ghosts are even a thing), or
3. Palpatine "is back" as one of those emissaries from the Battlefront game (the contingency plan)
I think one of the problems is that Civil War is hard to stomach as a status quo, but the new movies basically give us that as the last ~50 years. The Empire presumably started to fall at the end of RotJ, then somehow we ended up with the First Order running around and Skywalker being a myth. This is more jarring with the structural similarities of the TFA to the A New Hope.
The expanded universe dealt with this problem by going smaller in scope and getting away from Rebels/Resistance vs. Empire/First Order on a cosmic scale
This is why I actually dislike TFA rather than TLJ. Its so creatively bankrupt and sterile, it bent over backwards to make it exactly like the original trilogy, ending whatever resolution we got the original trilogy. To me, that's a worse spit in the face than any critique anyone might have about Luke in TLJ.
