He did. They ignored it. He wasn't happy about it. Honestly what I am most excited about this film is we'll be done with this "Skywalker Saga" and actually get new, original hopefully interesting ideas. However reading this, I don't know if that will be the case unfortunately.

Snipping can lead to inadvertently cutting something major or important lore-wise. If you plan 12 hours worth of story, you then have to cut it down to 8 hours worth of movie and pray you are able to fit everything in.

If you plan for one at a time, you need to ensure that many of the same people are involved to keep that continuity. You lose the sweeping outlook of vision in doing a longer story in the planning stages, but it does let you adapt as you go and add/remove concepts with a little more clarity instead of trying to fit it into "movie #2's 2 hours".

They've done the second option more or less, but without ensuring that continuity between staff. That leads to interpretation holes (TLJ), poor story pacing (TLJ), mishandling of story concepts (Solo), reliance on shoehorning stories to some success (Rogue One), or some director eager to make his mark on cinematic history to do something radically different because it's his pet project (TLJ), and finally the apology series done right (Mandalorian).

It was mentioned before and hit the nail on the head. Marvel is now established with set concepts and more importantly consistency. Star Wars has the set concepts in de-canon'ed previous works and existing films, but is wildly inconsistent in presentation and polish. That is Kennedy's problem, and why that comment of hers is a lot shortsighted.
I'm not saying they needed a full script or even a solid outline for all three films, but it probably would have helped if they had a single cohesive idea for the direction of this trilogy.

Never read the extended stuff but it sounds like the extended stuff is what they needed.

Was this person around when they decided to uncanon that section of lore?

I'd like to see something in the SW universe with an original story that also doesn't have 100000 callbacks to prior media which they rely on way too heavily. Basically member berries

I think she was one of the ones that spearheaded it. Dark Empire...Thrawn Trilogy... those two alone are some of the best SW material out there. It would have made them possibly more money than what their current films have made past Ep.6

They thought themselves better than the EU material and now it's coming back to bite em. I could tell they were even drawing allusions to Jacen and Jania solo via Rey and Kylo. Hell, even in the EU Luke had a son named Ben Skywalker...and Kylo's name is Ben. It's like they cherrypicked some names and decided on nothing else.

I hope Kennedy's ass is booted out long with all the chucklefucks that have ruined the IP.

I’ll still never understand RJ’s take on the entire thing. Did he seriously not understand that this was a 9 episode drama about the skywalker story? Because that dude went out to sea in ep8.

If they move forward with a new trilogy, I hope they pull a Divinity: Original Sins 2 and just make it 2000 years in the future. I fear we are going to have a trilogy of B-side characters, though.

Again, the disservice RJ did to this franchise cannot be overstated. TLJ was absolute garbage. JJ has a mountain to climb with this final installment. They should have made "Episode X" the finale.

Curious, but what was the reason Disney tossed the EU? I understand the whole thing was a tangled mess of competing levels on canon, they just decided to cut the knot, or was there some other reason?

I would imagine with properties spanning all over different media platforms, PC games, other titles, and with what you mentioned about competing levels of canon, they they decided it would be cheaper in the end to cut that cord off at the base instead of litigating every single license and contract to buy them out over multiple years.

And, also, probably a little bit of ego in seeing what was done with Marvel.

I heard they brought in George Lucas to help with reshoots and so far audiences have walked out of 3 test screenings for the film. Can anyone confirm this? hoping its just BS

If they do any more SW movies i'd prefer they go back pre empire like kotr, see ancient jedi and the jedi temple stuff fleshed out more

It's probably filled with a bunch of SJW propaganda, audiences couldn't handle it.

It was unfortunate how much they rushed the end of the series (which led to so many plot lines just dying and not paying off, like everything with Cade's family), but up til the finish Legacy was pretty fucking fantastic. A drug addict bounty hunter Skywalker was a fun character angle

Sounds like BS to me. If you're bringing groups in for test screenings, I feel walking out is not an option.

I've walked out of every movie I've seen in theaters. Usually during or after the credits.

    1. No one lucky enough to screen a Star Wars movie walks out.

    2. MSW basically confirmed, via Lucasfilm, that there has never been a single test screening for a mainstay SW movie. Period.

Anyone that believes "three screenings had people walk out" are ridiculously foolish.
