My point is they're so damn forgettable. The storytelling has done nothing to make me care about any of their plights or give me any sort of attachment to them.

What? Finn is one of the most interesting characters they've made yet. A black, conscripted storm trooper joining the resistance? Sign me up

The idea of his character is great, but then they forgot to do anything with it. His character and entire plotline in TLJ was a complete waste of time. Shoulda just stayed in a coma and saved everyone the grief of the casino planet and Rose.

Yeah his story sucked in TLJ. But he was great in TFA, so he's not exactly forgettable lol

As much as I love the storm trooper turned good angle, anyone could've filled Finn's role in TFA. He was basically there to move the plot along. That said, Boyega brings a fun energy to the character. I wanna see Finn redeemed in ep9.

Let's talk about episodes 1-3 and the masterpieces they were.

I do. I actually did the chronological watch through from ep1-8 including Solo and Rogue One.

It's fun. That's it. It's been said a thousand times, but if you're looking for some masterpiece of film, don't bother.

Even the originals are just fun dorky sci-fi movies. They're campy. They're ridiculous. Plot holes everywhere (even more blatant when doing a binge like I did).

It's not the MCU. I can't help but think that's just ruined what our expectations are for other universes.

Stop hating on the OG and accept them for what they are.

Also, you don't have to watch them. I know that sounds crazy, but it's true.

I'm actually in the process of watching them in release order, with headphones on cause I'm at work. The original trilogy was really good, even if some of the things they added for this version were straight wtf. I never noticed so many details cause I straight missed the sound.

Then i started the prequel trilogy and jfc I see what he was going for, but the execution ugh. I also understand it was one of the first of it's kind to make use of CGI, but jfc phantom menace was horrid. Straight terrible CGI, they need to remake that shit like they remake everything else in Hollywood. Clone wars was slightly better, but Hayden cant be saved. Again, some really good ideas executed terribly. Next up is RotS which I honestly remember nothing of so I'm excited to listen closely and see how it stands.

Hayden had some scenes where I thought he was great, and some scenes where it's like wtf they went to print with that cut?

    Why? Honest question.

Just being a darker themed chapter doesn't make it a masterpiece.

The acting wasn't all that spectacular.

The cinematography is simply on par with others.

    Same goes for the music.

The whole Vader being Luke's father was a fantastic twist and everything, but that's about all that separates it from the rest.

I think a re-edit of Rogue One by a professional studio and not an intern would honestly make it a great movie on its own without the brand name. It’s already the best one outside of ESB.

So many half-assed characters and ideas in that movie that made it feel like a ton of shit was cut out. When you have guys like Whittaker and Mikkelson in your movie feel like last minute additions you know something went wrong.

    Super Troopers is a masterpiece.

It doesnt have to be oscar worthy and the pinnacle of cinematography to be a masterpiece. Empire is by far the best offering of the 8 so far.

Super Troopers is not by any definition of the word a masterpiece.

Can't take anything you said after that seriously.

GF and I are going through the OT -> ST in prep for TROS and seeing how amateurish ANH is compared to ESB and beyond is really something. I know it was expected that the movie was going to be such a huge hit, but man, you can tell George had no idea wtf he was doing in a few scenes.

Don't get me wrong, I still love it (besides George's TERRIBLE later additions).

Whaaaa total disagree. Mark was amazing as Luke throughout that, especially the scene when he returns home and sees his aunt and uncle frying. And that's just Hamilton, nevermind the track in the backround and cut to his face as he looks up and hngghhh what wonderful acting and cinematography

And dont get me started on Alec Guinness. Obi wan was great throughout all of them, even if hes on screen for almost no time.
