Critics loved TLJ and that shit was hot garbage that ruined this story.

Overall, I've been very excited since the very first set of real leaks, but you have to go into this movie knowing there are way too many threads to tie up with such little time. It will likely feel rushed because Rian Johnson decided the middle movie of a trilogy took place 30 seconds after the first movie and spanned 2 days in-universe. They cannot expect anyone to have developed strong feelings for most of the new characters because the characters themselves have only had 48 hours of development within their own environment.

Based solely on the title of the movie, I'm assuming Rey takes up the "Skywalker" name, after finding out her actual parents are anyone but "no one", and it won't be believable. If she spent a year training with Luke, maybe. If she spent more than 35 minutes with Leah, maybe. Most of TLJ will be retconned.

Could very well be, but its a direct result of the misuse of TLJ. Rian left them with almost nothing and they had to bring back Palpatine, due to a lack of options. Ian M. confirmed this in his behind-the-scenes interview last week. He said he was never called by Disney until about 1 year before production started on TROS. If Palpatine was the plan, from the beginning, they would have told him years and years ago to be ready for filming.

As a hardcore fan, even if the movie is 99% fan service, I'll enjoy it more than TLJ.

Edit: And to answer your question, the very first legit leaks came from 4chan of all places. It was the first to have the Red Stormtroopers, Kylo's Mask reforged, and many other things I won't post here because of spoilers. You're probably referring to the Paxis leaks, which I'm mostly good with. I think a lot of the stuff that got cut in post-production should have stayed in the movie and made it longer though. I'm sure we will get it in the 4k/Blu-ray.

This movie essentially has to resolve countless threads, while also introducing, developing, and concluding a main antagonist. There isn't a director in the World that can accomplish that with a chance of success. This task was a lose-lose from the start and if he comes remotely close, I'll be satisfied and looking forward to the future.

I like the concept of Palpatine coming back, simply because it was stated that the main sequence of movies is about the Skywalkers and Palpatine has been there from the beginning. I kind of like the idea that it's his story too.

TLJ aside, I think one of the reasons for the disjointedness I’m reading about is because the movie was supposed to involve Leia much more heavily.

I’ll reserve judgment until after I see it tomorrow, but I’ll admit I’m a little worried.
