I mean, the series already handled incest. Who is going to get even a little excited about what 95% of men can watch whenever they want and what seemingly 95% of women are curious about?

    No, I get the point.

My point was that there shouldn't be the need to point out the point, because who honestly cares about the point at this point?

But if Abrams wants the gold star next to his name, by all means.

The implication was everyone thought it was going to be an actor that had a starring role and not just a couple of extras. One again Disney is just playing it safe and not pushing any boundaries.

Bruh, not even a week ago a television channel pulled an ad, then unpulled an ad, because of outcry over two females kissing in it. If you think same sex couples displaying their relationship as openly as a straight couple do is just pointless, then that's on you but everyone else rightfully recognize it as a big step and a big deal. Especially in something as big as a star wars movie.

Just cause its not the point of the series or movie doesnt make it any less of a big deal.

It would be incredibly stupid to push it with main characters. It would potentially cost them $300M+ with China. Big business doesn't give two shits about inclusion; they will push it in markets or products where it will benefit them and avoid it in markets or products where it will hurt sales.

The fact that it's a couple of no name side characters kissing, and that people still whine about it, make it clear that it IS a big deal and the cry babies need to deal with the fact that sometimes same sex people kiss, and stop bitching cause you see it in movies less often than you see hetero couples kissing.

As much as it shouldn't be an issue, it is still a financial and business decision to be made in some markets. Hallmark f'ed up, and rightfully got bad press for it and scrambling to fix it. Advertising during a programming break and having something in the entertainment itself that you are consuming are also two different things.

If it isn't story or character relevant in what I am watching/playing, then why does it need to be there? Abrams or any writer can wave their hands and have a "look at me, i did a thing" moment and pat themselves on the back of the Alphabet Army as much as they want. I'm going to forget it happened two seconds later if it isn't relevant.

I don't care it happens. I care when its pointed out it happens because they felt like they needed to score media points. To me, thats what makes a bigger deal out of it than just minding your own business if in public or forgetting it in a story because it serves no purpose.

Look at what you wrote, you who are making it a big deal, and then imagine it was just a man and woman on screen kissing.

As far as I can tell you are making the biggest deal out of it out of anyone on BG, and it's clear why. You say you dont want it thrown in your face, but imagine what a hetero kiss looks like on screen to same sex couples? You say this doesnt need to be a big deal, but apparently it's the biggest deal not gay couples but to the people who are saying it's not a big deal lol.

Tl;dr: stop trying to ruin star wars because you're upset people pointed out a couple side characters kissed even though they both have vaginas

I think you're wanting to read into what I wrote WAY more than you should be.

Two irrelevant characters have an on screen kiss, and i'm ruining Star Wars. Okay.

For something that isnt a big deal, you're responding as if it's a big deal even though you admit it doesnt warrent even thinking about it. Just like any other no name kiss on screen, this isnt a big deal, but for some reason you went out of your way to bring it up. The reason for why is clear, is my point.

It's a big deal; not the kiss, just the fact that it was put in and not taken out during editing like it would have been in any other decade of hollywood. Times are changing, norms are shifting, and that's a big deal.

    Even if this kiss isnt.

I'm sure this gay kiss is the stepping stone we need to lead us to some sassy as fuck lewd gay lead in 2025 or 2030. Gotta pave the ground. And it all starts with an obscure background lesbo kiss. So progressive

I really liked it. A lot of points felt like apologies for and deliberately righting wrongs that were made in TLJ and some may view it as petty or derivative but I enjoyed the fuck out of it.

That was sooooo much better than TLJ. Like, not comparable.

I enjoyed it a lot. Wasn't sure going in but it definitely came out feeling much more like a familiar Star Wars movie with the characters than TLJ did, even with the new characters.

This movie sucked. Quite clear they set out to make a trilogy with absolutely no idea how it would end.

It did the star wars thing, but good lord the movie is all over the place.
