You cannot please people with Star Wars. There are some people who are happy to see new things and have the series take chances and there are some people who want to see what they've seen before.

I don't give a shit about Star Wars one way or the other. This movie was terrible with little to no purpose and absolutely forgettable characters minus the K robot. It was a blatant cash grab.

Also it's funny that people are equating R1 to a numbered entry when this was supposed to be a filer side-story.
It's like expecting Rebels to be anything more than Rugrats wrapped in Star Wars.

Sure lightsabers make for awesome stuff, but plenty of the old novels were anything but light sabers, and they were great novels.

It was a fun war movie wrapped with star wars lore.

Well, that's the root issue I believe. If you aren't a fan of the series, your chances for enjoying the film go down exponentially. People of the series are going to enjoy it more regardless because of their fandom.

Hell, the reason why the last two minutes were so memorable were because they were the only two minutes where we got to see Vader bust his shit out and go to town.

It would be less memorable if that's all that happened and is one of the main reasons the prequels could have been so much better.
