Just got out of this! I had close to no hopes other than Donald Glover delivering (which he did) and I was pleasantly surprised. I can attest to it dragging a bit especially in the middle, but there were enough throwbacks, or fan service depending on your point of view, to the original trilogy to make it interesting even during the slow parts. The third act really got me in many ways and especially the music during the action scenes was really good. Actingwise, I thought Ehrenreich did a really good job with Han, it only felt a bit off during the opening scene, but during the rest of the film I never really felt like I wasn't watching some weird young Harrison Ford, which is supposed to be a compliment. Woodie Harrelson also delivered, as expected, and even Even Emilia Clarke convinced me in her role. There was one scene that really had me fanboying, but it's very spoilery, so click at your own discretion.

No that was definitely a good line. Subtle reference AND dramatic irony in one sweet line? Almost brings a tear to your eye knowing how he ends up.

That isn't remotely subtle, especially given it's in the trailer. I'd be more OK with it if they didn't cram every last reference/nostalgia they could into these movies. Now I just roll my eyes.

Just saw it and while I didn't expect much with all the talk going in I very much enjoyed this. Would definitely be willing to go see another two Solo movies with this cast especially after the reveal of the main villain.

Woody and Glover both killed it in their roles and even Emilia was vastly improved over what you usually see from her on GoT.

Just saw it. I really enjoyed the hell out of the movie. Like others have said, the beginning was a little slow, but once they introduced Lando, I thought the rest of the movie was great.
Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, and Chewbacca were all great. And once again, Disney has created a great droid character in line with BB and K2

Saw a matinee in a mostly empty theater.

MY DUDE DARTH MAUL. I FUCKING KNEW IT FROM THE SECOND THEY SAID CRIMSON ANYTHING. FUCK YES.

Anyway, Donny Glover was awesome. Guy playing Han was decent? I didn't love him. Daenerys really tried and it was decent. I just don't like her I guess but this was FAR better than GoT as someone else mentioned.

Woody is always a treat. MY DUDE WARRICK DAVIS WITH THE ROCKET LAUNCHER, FUCKING TIGHT. I loved Thandie Newton, solid bad ass. Would have rather had her opposite Han instead of wasted early.

The plot was pretty standard. I think we all saw where they were headed with this as soon as they did the whole "power a whole fleet" thing. I'm a huge Empire fan so the first "Move along" got a solid lol. I think Paul Bettany was underutilized but impressive with what he had. The chick voicing L3 was great as was the character. She was from Broadchurch I think.

All in all? I'd give it an 8/10. Nothing incredible but a fun caper flick with some awesome callbacks. When Han and Chewy are both sitting in the cockpit and the music kicks in. Bruh, I teared up. BROS FOR LIFE.

Aside from the big moments I mentioned above, I'm kinda pissed at how safe they played it. This could have been a HUGE departure from the standard.
