I think you're both missing my point. If you use something about someone as an insult, be it their size, height, eye color, skin color, religion, sexual orientation, etc., then that implies that whatever thing you're pointing out is bad.

If you call someone a ginger as a means to insult him, then you are implying that gingers are bad.
If you call someone a darkie as a means to insult her, then you are implying that dark skin is bad.
If you call a woman a male as a means to insult her, then you are implying that being a male is bad.

And yes, it goes both ways. You may wish to continue using those types of insults, but when you use a physical aspect that someone cannot help as an insult, it carries the implication that said physical aspect is a bad thing.

I don't really care about the particular infraction. I care about the underlying causes and rules behind it. And I believe that is what this feedback thread is for.

Yes, because implications are not always overt, which is why they're implications. He didn't come right out and say that, but that's exactly what I mean by using an insult is a means of implying something is lesser. The insulter doesn't necessarily need to explicitly believe that being male (in this case) is lesser, but the implication is still there.

Deliberately misgendering someone in a thread intended to explain why that's bad (among other things) is trolling. That's the infraction I used, and will continue to use.

I don't know you well enough to make a comment akin to "Well we always knew you were a bitch, this isn't anything new" but I can't let that sort of comment go unchecked. I hope you'd do the same if the situation was reversed.

Well how do you figure out that it was deliberate? Honestly, unless you have a specific sign listed in the thread title, you can't assume anyone who does it did it intentionally. In fact in this very thread I used a 'him' by accident before I caught it and edited the post. I think everyone should have one verbal warning so that you know it was deliberate. Can't expect everyone to have read every single post in a 500 post thread.

Yes, I do, because that's exactly the nature of an insult. You insult someone by saying something negative about them, meaning that the aforementioned negative thing is perceived as a bad thing to be.

In all seriousness this is ridiculous and people really will take offense to just about anything, even what could potentially have just been a typo or just a genuine mistake (or can you infract people for that?) Well, the world isn't a fair (or sensible) place and this just makes it all the more apparent.

That's not the intent, though. If I know that you are going to be offended by being called something, it isn't the same as implying anyone else is inferior. It's knowing that you will make that implication yourself upon hearing it.

Subtle - but distinct - difference.

Edit: Like Bane said, this is Trolling. It's trolling 101, though. It'd be like calling you a Pats fan, knowing you're actually a Seahawks fan. Pats are objectively better, but lol, u mad.

I disagree that it's "just trolling." And I will stand by the fact that when someone uses my gender as an insult, it implies that my gender is bad. I will continue to complain about that until people stop fucking doing it.
