If ya'll want to discuss Kings the classic thread is still open, I'm only referencing it to give an example. You can't expect everyone's "good faith effort" to be exhaustive as mine.

And I recently got kicked out of a debate Facebook group for being a "racist troll" and arguing "in bad faith" while I was being as verbose and lengthy as I normally post here. And this is by other debate coaches who are supposed to prize and value argumentation and dissent. People naturally assume ill intent to those of opposing viewpoints; if one can't see the "correct" point of view which is clear as day then one must be a malicious troll, ignorant/stupid, or hateful (or all of the above).

That sort of thing is exactly why when it is in my power to be the moderator, I am intensively protective of dissent and recalcitrant about doing anything that has a chilling effect on speech.

Late to the party, but when I walked in and posted and wasn't on a "side," and tried to have a real discussion I was met with personal attacks and posters doing everything they possibly could to ignore the actual topic at hand just to try and flame me. For nothing that I said. Like, literally nothing. Posters were trying to flame me because I wasn't left or right. Pretty much to the effective of saying I was really some closet pro-trumper who was riding the fence. I'm a contrarian by nature, so it's VERY hard for me not to play devil's advocate to understand and solidify points. Apparently no one in YCS understands this concept and would just leap to crazy conclusions that were so far off base it was ridiculous.

It was pretty nuts. Hence why I just tossed my hands up, said fuck it I'm out, and will no longer post there.

Several of those same folks are here I see. Don't come in here acting like ya'll want to, or can even have, a legitimate discussion with opposing views. From what I've seen I got closer than most, but only made it that far because I literally had to repeatedly say to stop the shit posts and personal attacks so we can talk. Most ppl won't do that. Also, I was eating percocets like candy at the time from surgery which I can only imagine helped


Now in guartz fashion, that only lasted so long. Yes, I absolutely compared you guys to him. Someone tells you over and over and over and over they want to try to have a discussion so please keep it civil and on topic, BUT YOU JUST CAN'T HELP YOURSELVES. Either you're guartz level of stupid or have absolutely no self awareness (which is what several resorted to throwing at me towards the end, hilarious I know).

Also, kings is quite literally my fondest gaming memory. Not gonna get into the reasons as that's not the point. Sounds like Gred and everyone else needs to just realize fun is defined by each individual.

I feel like there is a stark difference between "Hey I'm conservative and don't agree with gay marriage, atheism, transgender identity, or socialism, but I'm willing to have a discussion" versus "Here are some videos that are obvious conspiracies plus ya mad bro and if you dispute it I'm going to whine that my opinion is being oppressed".

I don't think you get to come here and cry no one will give you a voice when you use it to shout "DERP! FIRE! TERRORIST!" every time you speak.

In fact, I'm pretty sure you'll find that there is healthy debate when intelligent arguments are presented. MANY of my current beliefs and opinions were shaped from my experiences saying dumb shit, considering what someone from BG/RL had told me, then researching it to see if I was wrong or right (or both). It's called growth.

I honestly believe if you're at a point where you feel "oppressed" you are either 1) delusional or 2) so 'conservative' or set in your ways you cannot consider there is a possibility you are wrong or mistaken in how you feel. That's really what growth is all about.

Again the issue is that evaluating bad faith vs stupidity is hard. It's even harder when the moderator has ideological biases.

We constantly hold up AG and maroot as examples for what conservatives on the board are supposed to do, but the median left poster doesn't meet that standard either. We just have the benefit of being the side that doesn't have to justify Trump.

Idk why its so hard for you to just say "our house our rules" when you've already conceded all mods sporadically apply the forum rules based on whether the infraction specifically triggered that individual mod hard enough.

Had to go to sleep, but no, that's not why I left. Go back and read if you care to. You guys declared it lowkey racist and I accepted the perception, though it was wrong. I clarified more in spam because I knew there was no point trying to explain it within YCS. That's how bad it is.

Still, that's not why I left. It quickly got to a point where I literally could not post without it being attacked. Period. It was in regards to the transgender military ban when an opinion was being touted as fact and I pointed that out. It spiraled very quickly. The real nail in the coffin was my last attempt a while after that when I posted about an animal cruelty bill being passed to post something positive...and it literally devolved to trump is hitler. That was my confirmation no real conversation can be had in there.

Bruh we've been thru this already. Mods are not consistent with their bans, and are enormously influenced by their mood at the time of day and how much energy they're willing to pour into fighting a ban. They refuse to just say "our house our rules deal with it", but will bullshit ad nauseam to backdate a halfway decent excuse for the action.

I've always been pretty open about when I disagree with the other mods and why; I've said multiple times publicly that I disagreed with getting rid of milkster, Nynja, and D44 (though if D44 had been posting in YCS like he does right now back then, I would have done something). It has to be pretty egregious for me to involve myself without a Dorito because I feel it's better to allow the debate itself, including collective mockery, to regulate.

If we were enforcing strictly by letter all of you would be silenced for flaming and it would be isla playground where everyone has to be nice.
