if you're so worried about BG becoming an echo chamber and needing to hear the outside craziness of the world... we have only to listen to a trump speech. or the newest conspiracy theory youtube video. or just open a godsdamned yahoo article (any will do) and read the comment section. bonus points if its a transgender article, the vitriol in those posts is enough to etch metal. or just ask any of us cashiers if we've heard any crazy customer rants lately, we often do.

We make murder illegal because that is generally the sort of value system that is best for society compared to free reign on murder. Similarly, free speech is generally a value that is a boon for society.

It's not a matter of exposure. If we want to talk about traditional BG values, we didn't ban people for noob posts we dragged them for it. In the same way, if he's being an idiot our duty is to drag him for it, not to safe space ourselves away from him.

I think the moderation was a bit more active back then, too. I got temp banned at one point when I lobbied for killing all cats.

I asked guartz not long ago to actually reply to posts with his own words, stay in the discussion and have a dialogue, and stop posting random YouTube videos saying this is my opinion or this me. He's held that up for the most part and it's been a big improvement.

I like guartz here. You see that 40% approval rating for Trump. Most here can't understand how people can still be with him after the last 3 years. But ask anyone that has engaged with Guartz in a... for lack of a better word... debate. Now think about someone like Guartz who doesn't get challenged every day about being a retard, that is the 40% you see. I feel he is important for us to understand just how batshit crazy people can get, and how the internet has failed us in enlightenment, as it is now becoming the primary source of lies.

Trust me, best I can figure is that somehow mods think he isn't trolling and just legit believes what he says.
