Also, as of last weeks episode, what is the current timeline in relation to the original series? Since San Diego had reportedly been destroyed (and a few days(?) prior Los Angeles), is it reasonable to presume its +/- 1-2 days to the fall of Atlanta?

The first season got going really slowly, but by the end I got into it. This season so far honestly is losing my interest already.

It wouldn't be enough "realistic" if it was only zombies. Zombies make all normal human activities stop. Then there's a ressources issue including food, energy, clean water. Since ressources are limited and humans are struggling to survive then it's logical that humans are a bigger danger. This could change though because the zombie apocalypse is also the opportunity to start over from zero. We could say that humans are permanently in front of a choice.

Why does Strand give a shit how many people they take on the boat if he's not even going to stay on the boat long-term?

This whole "We only have paperwork for 2 people to enter Mexico" is dumb as shit because it's not like the Mexican government (or the US for that matter) has the resources to be enforcing a naval blockade on the border, and you can always just keep going west to get around it. So the only reason paperwork would matter is if you're trying to cross on land.

Abigail's family is obv never going to have any sort of problem with the authorities, so who even cares about entering legally?

Was it ever said it was documents or passports? I assumed it was something more like a cartel type of thing and only those that are affiliated with them could get in. It is Mexico after all, and Strand and his man slave seem to be a little too wealthy to be on the up and up, considering no real backstory to that wealth has been shown.
