Edit: They're gonna launch Musk's own Tesla Roadster in to orbit while it plays Bowie. I hope it doesn't experience a rapid disassembly...circling the sun while playing Space Oddity sounds cool as hell.

They all do in one way or another, shit our entire authentication system is Windows as a backbone.

Thankfully a lot of the science systems are Linux based!

Oh yeah, Landsat 7 is all solaris machines and some Windows xp stuff. Good times, half the shit is at the point where if it breaks they don't make it...which is why they are using it for testbed for Restore-L to refuel that fucker and keep it up for 15 more yrs!

Just so everyone remains grounded off the hype-train, Musk has personally said he's not positive the maiden launch will proceed as planned. I'm gunning for the boosters to come back assuming the launch doesn't disassemble rapidly.

Well to be on topic, the government shutdown prevented SpaceX from doing their rescheduled static fire test on Friday. Coast guard stuff I believe(?)

Not much politicking has happened in a while so this became the defacto space thread. Science thread is in general tho...
