Ran out of "igniter" so only the center engine reignited, not enough thrust to slow down. Missed the barge by 100m, blew up in the water.

At least they didn't lose the barge. Plus Elon was most worried about recovering the titanium guide fins on the side boosters anyway.
I'm starting to think Elon's long game here is to get to Mars so he can build the largest volcano lair in Olympus Mons...
Apparently the shrapnel did fuck up the barge engines, but he said it shouldn't be too hard to repair once they tow it back to shore.
2/3 aint bad for a first try though. Main thing though is it works. They'll probably do some adjustments on the core like they did with the boosters so next one will land properly. Failure is the mother of success as they say.
BFR Raptor engines won't use those chemical combo ignitions anyway.
TEA-TEB is what ran dry in the center rocket.Engine ignition for all Raptor engines, both on the pad and in the air, will be by spark ignition, which will eliminate the pyrophoric mixture of triethylaluminum-triethylborane (TEA-TEB) used for engine ignition on the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy.

Meanwhile China has landed it's own booster: https://twitter.com/NASASpaceflight/...36900650078208
NASA's mobile launch tower for the SLS is leaning...

Almost $1 Billion to build and modify it, it's leaning, it hasn't even launched anything, and they may use it just once. Impressive.
Another SpaceX launch today, 6:32pm EST. Launching for NASA, their TESS satellite. There will be a stage one return this flight, plus an attempt to recover the payload fairing.

Funny how you can hear birds chirping in the background...
Dead Center
that will never not be amazing
That was a sexy as fuck landing video. Seeing it plop down right in the center, no interruptions... yes.
This is the fucking future boys and girls. We're in it.
still the best.
The Expanse is becoming more a reality than not (minus the blue terraforming element).
The first Block 5 launch expected this month. Article has a lot more detail and history if you're interested.
