I still have to laugh that a guy I went to grade school is a JPL mechanical engineer and was able to sneak a secret message on Curiosity that could only be seen in Martian light. It says "Paul was Here" on one of the panels on the underside of the rover. It was on my Facebook feed back when I had an account nearly 6 years ago. It made everyone scratch their heads, laugh, a bit of scorn that he was able to sneak it past everyone. A large range of emotions really.

they're all going to die
without your space helmet? you’re going to find that quite difficult
Approximately 16,700 NASA employees (or 96% of their total workforce) are out of a job due to the government shutdown. A skeleton crew of approximately 200 employees remains at Johnson Space Center in Houston working grounds security and providing support to our three astronauts aboard the ISS.
No running mission is actually being halted in any way, just fyi.
I'm sitting at my desk and still being paid, as is everyone I know at HST / NuSTAR / SWIFT / etc
Same for a lot of the government ATM. If whatever they're involved in was already funded, it's still going on. They just likely aren't getting paid on the 1st.
The first plant that sprouted on the moon has died a week later.
Are you telling me Matt Damon didn't colonize Mars?
SpaceX passes final NASA review, approved to launch first Dragon mission March 2nd. No crew for the first one, but it's the final step (if all goes well) before launching actual people.

Fuck yeah.
I'm pumped to watch this.
WE GOIN BACK BITCHES
fuck yes. i've been trying to restrain my excitement about all that because it takes a long time to get moving but its getting increasingly difficult.
My excitement is only tempered by the fact that the launch is scheduled for quarter to 3am east coast time. My old ass will probably fall asleep at the desk waiting for launch.
I'll be wide awake. Thanks night shift!
