Hell yes.
Hell yes.
Did I just hear this guy correctly? This rover comes with a drone to fly around?
That’s fucking awesome! Apparently this rover is going to send samples back to Earth too.
Well that was cool.
Any idea when the return launch is planned for?
Sample return is potentially a different mission. Nothing firm yet, just NASA and the ESA trying to hash it out. Perseverance plans on collecting samples and stashing them for retrieval in the future though.

If the lander discovers clear signs of life, previous or otherwise, I expect people to figure out that return shit pretty quick. The sample return mission architecture is designed to continue the work begun by NASA's Mars 2020 rover. The 2020 rover will collect samples on Mars and stash them on the planet’s surface, for subsequent return to Earth. NASA and ESA are studying a follow-on campaign that would include a NASA-led Sample Retrieval Lander that would launch the retrieved samples into Mars orbit, and an ESA-led Earth Return Orbiter that would rendezvous with the samples in Mars orbit and bring them back to Earth.
Rober's video has a visual of how the sample collection works.
I still need to watch that. I heard he talks about the helicopter too.
All this means to me is that I have to emotionally prepare myself for another poor drone to be lost forever to the cold vacuum of space.
My battery is low, and it's getting dark.
I saw this today. It never gets old. This is not going to be anytime soon. They have to do all the systems checks to make sure everything is working right but.. I can't wait to see pictures or maybe even video of the helicopter flying around.
For the engineering nerds I present this picture from Reddit, proudly displaying the beautifully cabled guts of the rover.

But does it have an rtx3090?
Where's the RGB

I read that as "Where's RBG" and was really confused for a moment.
