What's horrifying and crazy to me is that we're pretty sure supermassive black holes are in the center of all large galaxies and we have no idea how they got that big. Not a scientist but from my basic understanding hawking radiation should have not allowed any to grow nearly to the size they are.

Looks like they have 13 first stage boosters that have flown at least once in their launch rotation (either as stand-alone or falcon heavy side boosters), and they're building a bunch more FH core and side boosters.

What's this about NASA cancelling their spacesuit development? I guess people still like SpaceX but I'm always a little disheartened when space expiration gets outsources to for profit enterprises. Is there a reason they can't do this themselves?

Appropriations. Congress only allocates so much money each year that R&D is likely getting more and more privatized.

I guess same is applied for Space Force. Even with a massive DoD budget it's likely cheaper to contract out development than to hire the scientists/engineers then fire them later once the work is done.

First Webb photo will be delivered by Biden at a presidential address at 5pm EST Monday, the 11th of July.

Supposedly full color deep field.

The rest will come Tuesday the 12th via Nasa livestream.

I saw the uncolored test pic they released a couple days ago as a teaser. It was just a throw away shot and it was spectacular. A full color deep field shot is gonna be mind blowing.

At 5 EDT Biden will reveal the first image from JWST, a "deep field" image. This will be followed on Tuesday of 4 additional images including 1 image of a giant gaseous planet outside of our solar system, 2 images of a nebula, and an update of a classic image of five tightly clustered galaxies.
