I think I'm going to scrap my 3K Ken on PC and start my Necalli fresh on my PS4 account so I can get the gold trophy lol

Seeing people that "suck" place high in tournaments, so I take the salty verdicts in here with zero seriousness.

Ken matches up better against characters with bad wakeup, and as we saw in Winter Brawl that included alot of the top 8. There is also a large amount of learning to still be done, which works against Ken as he has alot of unsafe stuff.

And I mean, I think 90% of the player base would agree Gief is honestly pretty fucking bad, yet we see Snake cleaning up at WNF.

Finally, the tiers are very compressed in this game. I don't think there's a single 7-3 matchup in the game at current, the closest would probably be Sim or FANG vs Gief and those are still winnable for Gief if they play very smart.

It is desirable, but very difficult to achieve. I doubt developers actively pursue inequality (with some exceptions, like Dan in SFIV being intentionally weak). The problem is that attaining a diverse cast while having also a balanced cast is something really really really really difficult to do. You can't make a "zoner" archetype and a "grappler" archetype and pretend that that variety won't encounter obvious balancing problems in their matchups... At least if you've designed your zoners properly, and your grapplers are actually grapplers. The games that have very compressed tiers tend to be simpler, or with many common mechanics for all characters.

The closer the tiers the better, up to a point, the point where Street Fighter becomes Divekick.
