Yes, but over the last few years I mostly manage teams that develop Forensic software and I deploy the software around the World and help negotiate. My upcoming travel schedule:

Shanghai, Dubai, Tokyo (work), Tokyo (vacation), Toronto, Sydney, Zurich, Amsterdam, and finishing at London.

We have some of the top talent around the globe at the SR dev positions, so comparing our work to what I see out of SFV development is just appalling. The guys on their team shouldn't have made it through sprint 2.

Also, Capcom 100% outsourced their "in house netcode" from a Korean company.

I dunno, worst 2 of the worst launches in gaming go to FFXIV and SFV. Common denominator = big company outsourcing to Korea to save money.

On this note, are you assuming to FFXIV 1.0? If so, then yeah, that whole abortion was awful. ARR's launch was no where near as awful as SFV's was, though.

It's a shame that literally the only time I ever hear it is on the way to training mode.

Yeah, that was along with GW2 and D3 as a couple of the worst launches I've been apart of.

Yeah SF3's soundtrack was amazing. I think that game had my favorite stages and music in a fighting game, I just loved the atmosphere it had going on.

I still dont understand why Capcom has to force their own dickhead through a wall and implement their on network code. I mean there is GGPO, Skullgirls used it. Heck they used it on the SFIII rerelease.

Why the fuck didnt they use it for SFV. . .

Dont get me wrong, the netcode works fantastic on a 5 bar connection, but as soon as you hit 4 bars and below its like horseshit all over the place.

GGPO isn't some magical cure all, and generally speaking requires a good amount of system resources that the PS4 probably can't afford. The game is still using a rollback netcode similar to GGPO, though designed in a very poor way.

As someone who is intimately familiar with UE4(I'm an engine contributor), UE4 has nothing to do with it. It's ALL capcom.

If I had to wager a guess, it's implemented to help cover up lag. But unlike intelligent implementation like in GGPO where you can adjust input lag to mask poor connections, here it's just a standardized lag applied to the entire game.

I don't think it's just that, or we'd see better performance in local offline. Even without vsync it's still like 5f delay.

What I mean is that instead of providing variable input delay like we see in a good number of rollback based fighting games these days, they simply went for a blanket delay. Either out of sheer laziness or to "standardize" the experience between online and offline.

My "Professional" opinion is that the game just wasn't ready for release and most of what we see are just stop-gaps to get something working out. I don't think laziness factors in, just bad management decisions to push things out on a schedule that they couldn't commit to.

I would not be surprised if down the line many of the systems we have now are literally thrown out to be replaced with what the developers actually intended in the future.

JP team could have done better if Kazunoko didn't have to carry the rest of his team. That Mika looked like he didn't even know day 1 shit, lol. That said, Champ's sim looking mad solid rn.
