I love that Art still thinks that secret tech is a thing in the age of youtube and everyone's online matches being available in game.

The Japanese did well in this tourney because they are the only ones using OS that will be removed like tomorrow.

Hopefully it is all removed before NCR because this isn't how the game was supposed to be played.

Also, am I wrong or was back dashed supposed to have invincible frames removed?

They literally can't get a god damned thing right, if that was supposed to be the case.

I think they are invincible for 2 frames.

Sims st.HP doesn't hit airborne, and chun is airborne like frame 3-10 or whatever. Nothing to do with invincibility

Ffxiv experience has taught me to never expect more than the bare minimum from these kind of updates. If they say it's just maint, it's definitely just maint. I don't know if it's just a characteristically Japanese dev thing but seems like all of them do it now and US always always draws false assumptions.

At bare minimum I hope they make all the stat tracker things work (retroactively perhaps) with the maint but I'm already proving my own point by expecting that.

It's the fault of alot of these devs being exceedingly unclear about, well, everything. Outside of the DLC schedule, there's been no clear communication on when to see various issues fixed, and with 2 weeks left in the month they still haven't given a date for Alex.

From the time I've gotten to spend with TO illuminati, this is what pretty much everyone says is the case. East coast tourneys put in the absolute bare minimum investment to maximize margins. Most others would accept breaking even to try something new/make it a good experience for attendees.

East coast will just OS with some blah blah arcade culture why don't you run your own tournament then bullshit, which is garbage for people spending up to $1k on the trip between travel/hotel/entry fees/expenses, and the voting with your wallet part doesn't work as well when Capcom fucks over half the country on options for Premier events.

Yes I am sure that is the only reason they did well.

Also from what I understand, isn't the change to it only gonna be like a 1-frame difference from 3-4 for the jump or whatever? I remember someone explaining it on finals day.

No, it's just the main reason they did the best. As mentioned by almost every top player, Tokido used the OS throw tech in casuals and tourney and got thrown like a total of 2-3 times the entire weekend.

In a game that throw is so strong, this OS gives you an unmeasurable advantage over anyone not using it.

Fuzzy jump(171+throw) will still be in there after the patch, works exactly the same way as it works in Persona. It's not as strong due to the shorter throw tech window, but it's still pretty good.

But like, what stops everyone else from using it? It can't be that America just 'didn't know about it'?

Actually that kind of is the case, fuzzy jump as a concept isn't new but using it to combat the dominant shimmy strategy wasn't widespread prior to the weekend (to wit, the video above was posted yesterday and there weren't really any videos about it prior to that).

And kind of ironically, the OS would lose to people who don't have tight setups down yet, lol.

Yeah, that's the one thing I'd be worried about. So many people still don't know how to meaty reliably (so many people got hit by wakeup jab even in top8), you might end up losing to accidentally delayed buttons.

I am definitely not good at it. At some point I'll just need to set a dummy to jab mashing to get timing figured out.

That and being free to the shimmy are my two largest issues.

Hopefully they find a way to weed it out because it goes against the entire design concept of the game and will ruin it if left in. Almost every single "pro" that complained about SF4 and has praised SF5 listed removal of the this kind of stuff and more raw reads as why. This is a hell of a lot worse than crouchtech and trip guard was a fuck ton better in SF4.

It probably isn't something they can remove without making throw techs annoyingly hard, things will just develop around it like how they did with the Momochi OS.
