CAPCOM has now failed their one character per month promise and should refund season pass buyers. Oh, all this via a Japanese blog update.

They are totally fucking clueless regarding this game.

I could've sworn there was a period within their timetable that said at least one of those months, they wouldn't be releasing a character? I could be wrong.

Getting story + character instead of getting character and then story is fine, though for people who wanted to try to play Ibuki seriously before EVO, I can understand the anger.

This game's got so many issues though besides just the PR..

If they're pushing one character back a month to finish it, that's presumably going to push the other characters back as well.

Balrog might still release in july (afaik he was supposed to be this months character and they switched while he was already in progress for some reason), but I can see the rest of them getting delayed.

It's pretty goddamn fascinating that what should be Capcom's highest priority (that sweet sweet cash shop) is so heavily delayed. The fact that they haven't managed to implement it yet is a pretty damning indictment of their overall competency.

With the system how it is, how many people are actually going to buy characters with real money instead of in-game currency thou? IIRC beating story and cheating survival mode with launch roster gave me enough battle dollars or whatever to buy like 12 dlc characters.

Well console players can't cheat survival mode and I think PS4 outsold the PC version like 5 to 1?

Also, thanks for reminding me, I haven't unlocked all of the colors yet and should get on that before Capcom potentially patches it (HA)

Yea but even if you just beat story, beat some easy/normal survivals and play online a bit, I think you'd be able to buy all the season 1 DLC characters and than some.

The DLC characters themselves open up more currency in story/survival right? I don't think even alex was out the last time I launched the game lol.

Well they're trying to copy the MOBA model of monetization, so the money doesn't necessarily come from the characters or the playerbase who can afford them via in game currency. It comes from either the casuals with excess income or from people wanting those dank new premium costumes.

If capcom had actually put out a decent game and fully dedicated themselves to a f2p model that would make sense. As it is you just have a retail priced game with a tiny install base and an even smaller active number of players trying to sell standard DLC, except this time you can get the stuff most people care about (characters) without spending real money.

I just unpacked the game and edited the survival scenarios to only be one fight each. This was shortly after launch thou, idk if it still works.

They had a voice, and they should have spoke out against the watering down and diluting the Sf brand.
