    Viewership is up that's more due to esports/twitch on the whole growing, but FGs outside of EVO are still a negligible share, MKX ESL is often the only one pulling enough views to matter on the larger scale other than Smash. SF is still generally the tops at multi-game majors.

    There should be a DLC upgrade option or discount on version updates for existing owners. As it is, your ASW games become coasters every 1-2 years, and you have to buy a new version of each game for full retail price (even if the version didn't add anything you care about), just so you can continue to play with the community. DLC characters (usually on disc) typically cost $8 each before they are rolled into the next version for free.

    For comparison, you could upgrade super sf4 to AE, or AE to ultra for like $15.

    Forcing people to pay 60 bucks a year to stay current works great for EA sports, but since the core audience of fighting games is in a decidedly lower income range it gets a fair amount of flack.

    Maybe you don't care about the cost personally, but it cuts into the online and competitive scene a lot. Nobody wants to spend like $100 a year just to stay current with ASW games if they aren't already hardcore on them, which means hardly any new/casual players, which means less players making the jump to play the games at a decent level. Even if you love GG/BB, paying $50-60 per game per update cycle is a shitty deal if there is hardly a scene for them.

    PS2 era GG games are hardly a good comparison; they were released farther apart, generally at budget pricing as opposed to full retail, and DLC updates weren't an option. Nowadays there is no excuse for invalidating peoples purchases annually and charging full price for version updates as if each one was a fresh new game.

    Revelator should have been in a good position to pick up some steam from SF5's wreckage, but it won't like this.

    If put that way, then yea i agree. I guess for me it didn't matter. But we have been seeing this trend since the genesis/snes days (sports games, sf2) unfortunately it'll continue. I really do agree the model should've followed how sf4 did it with discounted upgrades.

    Better fighting game players don't shine through in SFV. Haitani is a god, but he would never run through Daigo like it was training mode, in a good game, as we just saw. Fireball zoning is so poor in this game as everyone just jumps in all day.

    Solid, defensive play is not rewarded or even a viable game plan in V.

    There was a match between Mago and Momochi recently where they pressed buttons on wake up every single time. Every.Single.Time. Just sitting and blocking in this game on your wake up is basically forfeiting.

    Think about it: in every SF to date, pressing buttons or SRK on wake up was done to throw your opponent off and show him or her you are willing to take a risk. In V, just sitting there and blocking is showing them you are willing to take a risk lmfao.
