@ that Hitler vid lol... anybody that paid for beta needs a kick in the nutts
I am pretty mad that this is how it is. My weekend off that i randomly have just in time for beta ain't happening. The connectivity issues causes lag in training mode, and does make it seem impossible to link stuff. I want to play cammy D: they really should've allowed us to play the beta offline and local play, it's really dumb how much we're restricted.
This is the 100% complete opposite from what everyone has been hyping at evo/sdcc/e3 builds.
To be fair this beta was very explicitly stated as being a testbed for the netcode. Of course their servers shit the bed so hard that that couldn't even be tested, but hey.
Did anyone even get a match? Lol
I saw some random people on r/Kappa claiming to have played a match, but not sure if I believe that.
The amount of mad over the beta is quite hilarious, though. People are too spoiled by GOOD betas that they forget what betas are meant for; this. To find shit like this with the game being so broken you can't make it past the title screen. Imagine if they didn't have a beta test and this was launch? Then yeah, people would have a reason to wahhhh about their weekend being wasted.
Either way, just hope they get shit fixed and folks get to play it soon so they can stop the tears.

When you schedule a beta test that for the US requires a $60 buyin, having it fuck up so bad that you cancel before 1 of the scheduled 5 days is over is not a good thing.
That a beta test getting canned before it's even 1/5th of the way into its scheduled time frame is a decidedly not-good thing?
versus letting it rock and letting folks get error 37'd from D3 all weekend, least they're stepping up and saying 'we done fucked up'
Imean look at Ono taking literally all the blame for probably PSN + Capcom combined being shit.
I do agree somewhat with Nits about having it not solely being online and maybe having a form of local play so you could at least play the game, lol. That part is absurd, even if their reasoning for this weekend was just to only test online.
RIP anyway
I don't see how a beta test that doesn't allow most people to even get past the title screen, let alone play the game and actually test the netcode (which was supposed to be the point of this beta) can be viewed as a positive.
Between this fiasco and the initial state of the USF4 port the future of the Street Fighter series isn't making a good showing atm.
No, as in my edit I agree. It's not looking good so far for the PSN/Sony/Capcom relationship. I mean granted Ultra's getting fixed continuously but at this point it's too late with EVO already over. They need to get their shit together.
I just hate how the blame's being heaped on Ono esp when he probably has no idea what to do about anything, so he's just taking the blame so terrible folks like FChimp can bitch to him.
Anyway it is what it is, I was hoping to also give it a shot this weekend, but things went to the shitter and RIP. Bad Beta's bad, I guess I'm just not as pissed off as others. I played D3 and GW2 at launch, so I know the struggle. I guess I didn't play all super smooth betas like Welt![]()
To be fair to good betas, D3 was a production title and the biggest letdown in gaming history.
Sadly i'm one of the idiots that never thought it through getting it at amazon, i preordered through psn and holy shit do i regret every second of it. But it is what it is, i own the game now, in the end, the final product should be promising...
I don't give a shit about the money part. I'm more worried that once I did get through the product wasn't actually good. Again, probably just training mode.
It's not like the beta is cancelled, people will still get their five days. Works fine for me since I'm dealing with EVOla anyways and have a ton of tourney planning/stream shit to deal with anyways
Let's be real, unless V is a gigantic steaming pile of unplayable garbage, it will still be huge in the FGC for years to come solely by being a main series Street Fighter game. I despise 4 but I've still pumped hundreds (if not thousands) of hours into because it's where the players go.
Saw the Desk Ryu combo video over at evenhubs.
Game is on track to be EXACTLY as how I've been predicting: dreadfully fucking boring to spectators/monsters, due to the low execution barrier, stupid big damage, rampant, generic, cookie cutter target combos that do huge damage. Every character introduced so far has the exact same approach to their character design: OFFENSE OFFENSE HERPADERP RTSD HERPADERP. This game is going to be the most generic SF to date.
Even the hype beasts over at evenscrubs are complaining this game LOOKS too easy and boring. Even the scrubs can see this game was made for them. The comparison to SFxT is dead on.
Unless they completely revamp the mechanics, this game is DOA, guaranteed. It'll survive off hype for a year, then die out exactly the same way SFxT did.
I, for once, welcome the glorious return of USF4 as the main game at EVO 2017. This is what Capcom gets for getting too damn gungho in trying to create an SF game for filthy casuals.
I'm with you. I saw that Ryu combo and was like...ok? Basic fucking corner combo with meter lol.
