I can see that happening. He obviously doesn't go anywhere close to all out in his fight. Maybe by some miracle they'll let Vegeta have the limelight

Really pissed off that piccolo is literally just fodder at this point and everyone is treating him like it. His entire fight was solely based off gimmicks, which I guess was nostalgic to see the clone one. (going to be honest I really wish he grew 10 stories tall for funsies) Really annoyed that one of the biggest threats for Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z to fall so low, can't say I'm too surprised though.

Meh, Picollo is cool, but he's been getting fucked up since he was introduced. He was a threat for one tournament in DB, then was useless in DBZ aside from staling for time. Has he ever even killed anyone besides that one saibaman Krillin missed? Won a fight since Raditz?

Meh, I wouldn't reduce fighting both Frieza V2 and Android 17 to a draw to merely "stalling for time".
Both fights were integral elements of their respective arcs.

He also delivered an important beam blast to distract Cell during the father-son Kamehameha.

Also, his sacrifices on Earth and Namek cannot be understated, as each helped to fuel both Goku and Gohan's SSJ transformations (on Namek and in the time chamber, respectively).
Plus being being so intrinsically tied to the existence of the Dragon Balls themselves for most of the series played a massive role.

Piccolo is a critical team member. I think his "uselessness" is inflated because of what Dabura did to him in the Buu arc.
The comments he's making in this Universe 6/7 tourney even reflect how people don't take him seriously anymore. He's still quite the strategist; Frost only won through cheating.
