Goku gave Cell a senzu bean because he cares more about a good fight than actually saving the world. He also didn't go all out against Majin Vegeta (and maybe Majin Buu?). Only time he ever uses his full power right away is when he knows he is completely outclassed and is going to lose the fight anyway.

Vegetto is cocky because he combines too cocky assholes lol.

Everything Vegetto did was calculated, not cocky.

He was trying to piss off Buu so bad that he'd try to absorb him, so he could save Gohan and the others.

I can't remember well but I don't believe this was something done intentionally versus something that came out of coincidence.

But at the end of the day, the issue was to destroy Buu and they failed. Nothing will change that formula. Goku button got pressed and the fight was over.

Ehhh Trunks being the "dominant personality" of the fusion. While he had some badass moments I always thought his character was kinda....bland? Not as bad as Goten but...yeah.

The problem is more that both Trunks and Vegeta only have decent endings for fusions, so mashing them together gets real stupid real fast. Gogeta and Gotenks are both perfectly fine, but vegeto is awful.

Vegeto is less that it's horrible on its own and more the fact that the only thing representing goku is an o.
