The only lack of class I saw was a handful of Oregon's players using FSU's warchant to make a rape joke. If what you are referring to is the "OMG THEY DIDN'T SHAKE HANDS" that Herbstreit railed on, no, just no. In all bowl games the losing team is rushed to the locker room (save for the losing coach and the losing team's starters/captains, or whoever happened to be on the field at the end of the game) because the bowl sponsors have to wheel out a huge fucking stage, build it, get the corporate suits on the field, set up confetti cannons and shit, and do a trophy presentation. FSU was not being unsportmanlike, they were doing what they were told to do by Rose Bowl staff.

If that comes off as U MAD its because it is, I've had to deal with lots of FSU haters on social media today. Making fun of how they lost the game is fine, making fun of them on some trumped up "sportsmanship" bullshit is not.

Poor sample size, but since it's the game that ended since your post, plenty of Washington players are shaking hands with OKState players after the game -- will keep an eye on it tomorrow.

As far as FSU goes, they did get outta there right quick, kinda like the Pistons did in the 90s (if you were alive and/or remember that). They thought they were better than they really were, and didn't feel like admitting they got their shit curbstomped. Yes, the kids are generally rushed off to get outta the way of like..storming the field, but in this case, a lot of shit was also managed like most big bowl games are and there were very few FSU Players even on the field. Hell, an alleged rapist/thief stayed on the field long enough to congratulate the winners. Get outta here with that shit.

Honestly, I don't personally care if they hung around to shake hands, but Herby was right when he called it out, just like he was right when he said FSU had quit on the game. Win twenty nine straight, lose your first game in two years, and they looked like a bunch of children.

The procedure is always losing coach/captain/starters shake hands and everyone else bounces so they can clear the field for trophy presentations. Not a huge deal. It's football. You can't always expect guys to participate in the most violent collision sport for 60 minutes then sing kumbaya and warmly embrace directly afterwards. I never been a fan of the line skate handshake at the end of a NHL playoff series either.

The general consensus is that we have a pretty youthful, immature sense of humor on these boards. But in the grand scheme of things, corporate world and all that jazz, rape jokes are not funny. The shit the Oregon players pulled, while was "the fuck they just say OH GOD TOO SOON" in the moment, was incredibly dumb. I agree. Jokes about anything as serious as rape shouldn't be tolerated.

As far as saying someone gave up, when a commentator is brave enough to even call it out ON AIR, and I'm pretty sure he's seen a few bowl games in his day, then at least defensively, it may be true, and that doesn't take anything away from Oregon considering it's Oregon who forced FSU into that position in the first place. That and obviously Jameis being incredibly friendly with sharing of the football, along with Cook.

BUT OH WELL. Their season's over, gotta get hyped for Oregon vs Ohio State :^)
