Thank god.
Obama certainly put in a lot of effort trying to convince everyone to pass this measure.
Can you imagine if no-one leaked information on this bill? Makes you wonder what else is behind the curtains.

What I find hilarious is he tried to piggyback a job relief bill as if it would have been a fair exchange.
That would be like passing a surveillance and imprisonment bill with the ACA.
I'm extremely happy this came to a death. We all know it will come back in some new form, and I'm actually a fan of open trade with other countries, and making trade easier with those in Asia to offset the growing economic might of China is a good plan to me. I was extremely uncomfortable with the hidden aspects of it and the lack of clarity on what was being discussed specifically.
Also the fact that corporations would sue for lost future profits was terrible. That's the whole point of being a business - you take risks and sometimes they win and you make money. When they fail, you lose the money.
Trouble is it's not dead yet. The fast track setup is, but not the trade deal itself.
Yeah, but now it has to be deliberated openly if I understand properly. Instead of being fast-railed in the dark.
Many Americans preferred to get fast-railed in the dark. This is going to get Amy Schumer-weird.
Nope, nevermind, the house just passed fast track. Though it looks like there are amendments, so it has to go back over to the Senate again.

Guess there weren't enough bribes the first time around.
Double post, apologies.

Leaked TPP paper shows US pushing drug company rights
From what I understandin the article, generic drugs are going to disappear.
Permanent evergreening.
Yea no fuck that. I really don't get why this shit is passing when so many people are obviously against it.
Never question your masters. They know what's best for America.
I'm so pissed at how little coverage this is getting. That drug company shit is totally fucking awful.
It's a leak of an old copy of the TPP, from an unnamed source; of course no one is going to spend the day reporting on it. That's literally asking news stations to report on heresay and incomplete information on something no one knows anything about, about an old version of a bill still in the works. At least when they're already reporting on something they know nothing about, they have video and sources to talk about it, but there's nothing of substance here yet until the whole document is agreed upon and it goes off to a vote.
I'm talking about the whole thing in general. It has virtually no mainstream media coverage. Like, fucking no one even knows what the TPP is if you go and ask an average person.
How might that news bit go?
"And now, it's time today for a kind reminder we are controlled by an elite oligarchy. Feigning democracy is merely convenient at this point. Anyway, here's some of the stuff they're up to right now: a huge trade bill known as the TPP - along with other TTIPs, TPAs and whatnot. Each bill will be nearly impossible to interpret and understand, and few will see it covered objectively."
edit:They are about imposing a regulatory structure on federal, state, and local governments that will be more business friendly.
For example, the deals are likely to limit the sorts of environmental and health and safety restrictions that can be put in place. They will also likely limit the ability of governments to put in place privacy restrictions on the use of personal data. And they will increase patent and copyright protections, likely putting in place rules similar to those that Congress tried to impose through the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). There is almost nothing about the likely provisions of the TPP and TTIP that would become more acceptable to the public due to a stronger economy.

That's not exactly what it says.
