Meh, I think I've seen too much science fiction to wind up effectively numbed to this premise. Mechanically, it's probably not a whole lot different than screening for diseases or potential deformities and tweaking from there. And given recent events in the world, I'm sure some would love to spin having testicles as a disease, then being black, and so on down the slope of us mere mortals blaspheming god and his master plan. Would any of these resulting children wind up being unhappy? Enter Nature vs. Nurture. Some probably would grow up not caring a bit. Others may murder their parents and do other crazy things. To do or not is still some form of gamble, but I think I'd err on the side of scientific advancement with the understanding that ANY of the kids should always have access to help via up front expense in the process if by some chance the tinkering does proverbially flip a few of the wrong switches. That alone would probably cut down greatly on the people who would partake, but at the same time, I figure all of this will get cheaper to do as time goes on and tech improves all around.
Or put another way, it's pretty much gonna happen whether we object or not. D:
