Excess EXP, and the amount changing depending on disciple level?

So, i'm back, after a year, and it's basically like starting over.

I've a lot of questions, but have found answers to most, but just curious about EXP changing on cetain quests.

Doing one of the newers quests, and trying to do it on other than my capped BLM, tried accepting it on one job, and it was 10k, another, 3k, on capped 40k. I dont recall this before? I dont see why the capped job would get the most EXP.

So, is the EXP changing new? Why is the most EXP offered on a capped job? Is getting EXP on a capped job just go to waste, or is there some sort of merit dealy?

It's probably just a result of the function they use to determine the exp reward not zeroing it out at 50 (having it display zero on a capped job would be silly anyway). It's also future-proofing in a sense, since it means you'll get more exp than you would otherwise once the level cap's increased.

Most of the exp gains from quests, FATEs, roulette bonuses, etc, are level-scaled anyway, and based on a % of your TNL. So while the actual EXP gained is displayed as higher for a higher level job, it's likely all just relative.

So basically will be wasting EXP if I dont have an applicable job thats not capped then eh?
Unfortunate. Would have hoped they would have addressed that by now.

I'm not sure I understand what you want them to address. It wouldn't make much sense to have any sort of experience rollover. Ineffective or not, leveling on the job is the point of the experience system.

Obviously the excess exp should translate in to gil.

Which only delays the issue rather than solving it, as anyone who's ever capped their merits can attest to.

Really, the system is fine as is. If you don't want to "waste" the exp, then turn things in or otherwise do them on jobs needing exp. If you don't have any more jobs needing exp, then, well, you didn't need the exp to begin with, so it's not really wasted as there's no opportunity cost.
