Patriots weren't fully staffed. No Gronk, no Mayo, no Wilfork, no Talib. The Patriots were missing like 10 starters. Wow. Peyton finally beat Brady when he was surrounded by pro bowl offensive talent and Brady was throwing to Hooman and Mulligan. Really impressive.

Peyton versus New England since signing with Denver = 1-3.

When healthy the Patriots beat Denver decisively or in humiliating fashion. 2012, 2013, 2014.

Brady owns Peyton. Everybody knows it.

I don't really have any problem with people listing Montana above Brady, I just disagree with it. The salary cap changes everything, and people do not give Tom enough credit for getting it done every season with a revolving door of offensive players around him. The luxury of building something and finding chemistry is something Tom has been denied a lot and something other QBs haven't had to deal with.

I only get annoyed when people call Peyton the GOAT because it's so fucking ludicrous and absurd that anyone who says it deserves to be smacked in the mouth.

Tom gets compared to Montana and that comparison is legitimate. Peyton compared to Montana is a laughable argument which is why nobody tries to make it. They just call him the GOAT for no real reason and hope nobody challenges it.

Manning rides Brady's shoulders into the discussion piggy-back style by virtue of being a generational rival.

As far as Joe, the salary cap is a weak point to argue. It was an entirely different era. Teams didn't chuck it nearly as often. He was so far ahead of his competition it's ridiculous. He dominated the way Rodgers did this season for close to a decade. Not to mention being a perfect 4-0 on the biggest stage without throwing a single pick. Etc and so forth. It's not even close imo.

I'm only saying that if Kraft was able to spend and sign anyone he wanted, with Brady as QB and Belichick as HC, the NFL would probably be a pretty boring place for everybody outside of New England. It's not a shot against Joe.

18 play off victories.
A 16-0 season.
A 50 TD pass season before the NFL was totally gimped out defensively.

People who put Tom at #1 aren't just talking out of their asses. He has a strong case.

Try it.

Then start looking at how he fared vs the rest of the league during that time vs Brady in this era. How many years did they each lead in passing yrds, TDs, etc. How close was the competition?

I'm assuming you were too young to have watched him play. Whenever you have some spare time watch as many of those games as you can.

At the end of all that, if you still think Tom even has a chance to be considered #1 over Joe then idk wtf to say.

He did more than Brady in fewer appearances.
