Yeah. Its right there on the edge of being what you'd want but it doesn't quite hit the mark.
On the surface its just more Dragon's Dogma, cept you can play with others...
But the more you play, the more you realize that "Online" part really does hold the game back. Everything is balanced around multiple players. Even a lowly Cyclops feels like its got HP/Defense values out of Bitterblack Isle (from Dark Arisen) or something. Then they have a (seemingly) random enrage trigger that makes you do practically no damage until you calm them down (by hitting them..? Its weird.) so the fights have a more complex mechanic to them which feels interesting at first but after a few fights its just kinda boring. Add in the fact that there's actually color-coded pop-ups that tell you what to do to dodge attacks while holding onto a monster, it kinda feels stale since you don't actually have to read the monster's movements. Red circle pops up? Press X. Yellow circle pops up? Press O.
Aside from these things, its basically what you'd kinda expect. Its really just riiiiiiiight there. A few changes and it could be the game that people actually want.

Oh, right, the other thing I forgot to mention (the word underwhelming reminded me)...
The fighter class? Played exactly as I expected to. I started the game as fighter and just ran in and was pressing buttons without a care in the world about any tutorial and things reacted pretty much exactly as I expected. The heavy attack (triangle) is a little different but aside from that it was like just playing DD. Then I switched to the archery class.
No daggers. Just the bow. All you can do in melee range is kick stuff. You can kick to knock them back or kick yourself off them depending on the size of the enemy and the type of kick. Then there's timing-based reloading.
All the other classes were actually good though... just... this actually exists. No classic strider.
