Thing is, I spend a lot of time on tumblr and I know better than to pay attention or give much credence to a good portion of the shit that people say on there.

The problem is that is where most people who feel oppressed find a community that supports them. A lot of the posts there are from idiots and are circulated so quickly, easily impressionable people latch on to those ideas and beliefs. Seeing posts where X group is so oppressed by Y group and that all of group needs to be exterminated get 100k+ notes doesn't really help.

True, though a lot of the really bad posts have people calling them out on their bullshit. Which isn't to say that people still don't develop terrible beliefs, but there are at least some people who try to curb it somewhat. Teenagers committing suicide is an all-too-common problem period. Teenagers in general need access to counseling and other resources outside their parents' approval. Making a teenage suicide about your pet issue gets you at best nothing and at worst dangerous shit like lamenting the underreporting of trans suicides because

it has been documented that reporting suicides results in a ripple effect of more suicides, and the "good, moral media" (lol) wants to try to prevent that.
