Yes, unfortunately, people willing to believe everything they see and not fact check is a huge problem these days, and it's not just SJWs falling for it, look at your Facebook feed - see that picture of Bill Gates from his reddit AMA that someone shopped to say "If you share this picture I'll give you X amount of money?" And that's just one example. My Facebook feed - particularly my middle-aged aunts/uncles/family friends - is full of people believing every fucking dumb thing they read.

And honestly, some of that would have to be thinking how my family would react to it. Nothing on the level of stress a gay or trans person has to deal with coming out to their family, but the fear would still be there that they would treat me like a freak for wanting to be with somebody like that.

eh, may just be desensitized since I don't talk to any of my family anyways (hell, I have a brother that lives 3 miles from me and I don't even know how hold his daughter is or what her name is; and haven't talked to him in like 2+ years. No falling out or anything, just haven't; yet alone the other 3 brothers I never talk to, mom, grandma, etc. I workout w/ my dad and live w/ an uncle and that's about the extent of my family contact), but if they were to treat you differently because you love someone, fuck'em. Don't need that shit in your life. Don't let other people set the boundaries for who you can have feelings for or what you want to do in life.

That said, you may not be that interested in trans to begin with, but if you were, and the factor that got you to say no was your family, then you really need to evaluate your family and whether or not they're even worth any of your time.
