Also the Department of Education is still garnishing the wages of student borrowers two months after being told to stop the practice.
Ok, so she was arrested for being a threat to the people around her? I can understand that. I've seen firsthand how destructive even teenagers can be.Judge Brennan also said police had responded to multiple incidents between the mother and daughter, and that her detainment was a result of that.
Ok... It's a bit extreme, but probation violation is probation violation I guess...She was placed on probation in mid-April via a Zoom juvenile court hearing after facing an assault and theft charge last year; one of the terms of the probation was a requirement to do her schoolwork.
At a mid-May hearing at the Oakland County Family Court Division to decide whether Grace had violated her probation, Judge Brennan found the girl "guilty on failure to submit to any schoolwork and getting up for school" and called Grace a "threat to the community" because of the previous charges against her, it said.
"She was not detained because she didn't turn her homework in... She was detained because she was a threat to her mother," the judge said....what?Judge Mary Ellen Brennan said the teenager had been benefiting from a residential treatment programme and was not yet ready to return to her mother.
The kid likes to beat her parents so the judge is locking her up but news organizations don't like to bring that up cause I mean cmon, how is your kid whipping your ass?

But how was she beating her parents if she was in a residential program? Your parents don't typically enter the residential program with you. Unless things have changed in the past 20 years, anyway.
I mean, im sure her parents who love her very much tried to visit once in awhile. Idk my opinion isn't strong on this but its also not impossible that this girl is unstable and a threat to her family if left unattended

Yeah, not trying to comment one way or the other on her mental state. Just saying something doesn't smell right about this story. I was a problematic kid around that age, and ended up in a program as well. They're designed to keep you there to maximize their profits, not rehabilitate you. It took my parents AND the board of education for my school district intervening to pull me out against their "doctor"'s advice when it was clear that no amount of compliance on my part would be enough for them.
1. You don’t stay in a residential program for forever. I can’t go into specifics as it would be illegal, but safe to say we had a similar situation couple years back. The kid is still a threat to their parents if released unless they’ve shown they’ve changed.
2. Not all residential programs are 24/7. Some have the kids go home on the weekend or are just like school hours. Once approved, parents have a choice on how they want their kids in the program. It’s hard, even when your kid is a threat, the parents still love them, and sometimes can’t bring themselves to put them away full time.
wow let that sink in, they didnt make everyone physically go to a meeting over summer to tell them somethingI’m a teacher. Our school board met via Zoom to tell us that we are going back to face to face learning. Let that sink in. The virus is too dangerous for them to meet face to face but we need to return to face to face learning with super spreaders. I have 30 years in. Retirement!
are teachers the most entitled class of worker?
I think you had it in the first half but then fell face first in the second. Did you mean the school board administrators?
Its stupid cause they could have also just sent an email out or told the principals to inform the staff, but they decided to do that instead lol

How does that help if they aren't leaning into their desks full time?

Waiting for the first fight between kids where one gets tossed up over the plastic and cut in half by gravity.
More like 1 or 2 layers of skin gets shaved off but I see your point

Florida senator Rick Scott, a proponent for re-opening schools, announces that his grandchildren will be "distance learning" during the next school year.
Florida Sen. Rick Scott asserted parents need to be given a choice whether their children should return to in-person learning amid the COIVD-19 pandemic.
His grandchildren, Scott said Tuesday, will be "distance learning" in the meantime to ensure their safety.
"You ought to give parents as many choices as possible," said Scott on Fox Business' "Varney and Co." "My daughters are going to be more focused on, you know, distance learning right now to make sure their children are safe.
"But I know other parents are going to want to make sure their children are back in the classroom."
