He’s going to cut the dept. of ed. which includes Title I funding.

Guess what type of schools I have and current work at?

I read trumps page on what he wants to do to education and I am so disheartened. Even if 5% of that happens, it’s going to have long lasting effects.

I am panicking because I legit think I may need to get out of education, but don’t know what I can do for a living that won’t mean a pay cut.

I need to figure it out though in case I need to jump ship.

it is indeed a significant improvement and Louisiana has some of the fastest growth rates in the country, take your lap imo

that said the data is buried in the national progress report showing a decline in reading for both 4th and 8th graders and a decline in math for 8th graders + slight improvement for 4th graders. the 67% of 8th graders who can read at a basic level (a dismally lower standard than what you're probably imagining by that phraseology) is the lowest in the report's 33-year history. scores were stagnating and declining even prior to COVID and were further hammered as a result of it, and while high performing students have mostly made up the lost ground low performing students are doing worse than ever as the median continues to slide down. grim stuff for America's education system.
