Not to go too far back into the thread, but Aksannyi, the general consensus in linguistics and phycology is that word use has no significant influence on action. So no, yelling "I raped you" in COD has absolutely no connection to promoting a "rape culture"(ignoring, that this is a different meaning of the word entirely) or desensitizing people to the physical act of sexual assault.
If you want to claim otherwise you need extraordinary proof, because the sapir-whorf hypothesis has been tested extensively and does not support your position.

If she's bragging about rape, then she's terrible. All it says is "I fucked ..." and I can't make an assumption based on consent with just that.

That said, he looks asleep, and it's possible he didn't want his private business on social media. That makes her disrespectful more than anything else. I wouldn't want my personal business on social media either, so I can empathize. Bragging about sex is generally crass. Is it wrong? I personally don't think so, unless you do it with intent to shame. "I fucked this girl, what a slut!" is different than, "Hey so we hooked up last night." (Though people will interpret based on their own assumptions of sex and gender, which is another issue entirely.) Obviously, if people interpret it as shaming then the kind thing to do would be to take it down. Do I think this girl is trying to shame him? No. As long as he is okay with his business being on social media then I don't see anything wrong with this, but it doesn't look like he knows that she took the pic and to me, that's wrong and exploitative.

Thats my point, no one here seems to be giving this girl shit for what she did. From what I read, she did it to one-up someones previous claims that they fucked another NFLer. My question is, what if the sexes were reversed?

She handled it like a pro as far as I'm concerned. She continues to impress me the more I see or hear her talk.

Cenk is on the ball with a lot of shit, but his understanding of history and the relative importance of feminism in modern society is not one of those things.

Even with some stuff I don't agree with her on-- or to the extent that she takes it-- I love the conversations she starts, and the assumptions she tries to make people re-examine. She reminds me a lot of Lynn White, an historian for whom I have profound respect: a lot of times, she feels like it's not about whether she has the answer right or not, but the questions she brings up and the invitation to research claims more thoroughly results in a better understanding of the topics at hand. Sometimes she goes over-the-top, but I think in some cases it's necessary to do that-- to make extraordinary claims-- just to get people to honestly look at sacred cows, or things related to them.

I really cannot stand TYT, the same hubris and self-righteousness that he brought into this conversation is his typical behavior that I've seen in the (admittedly few) times I've seen him. He's basically Rush Limbaugh, but a leftist.

meant to comment on that post earlier. saying that hearing "you got raped!" on COD will lead someone to think "hmmm... so rape is ok..." is quite an incredible stretch.

technically, it would lead to the opposite, since usually when someone gets raped in CoD, you want to kill the person who did the raping.
