Unfortunately, being able to admit you're wrong in the light of factual evidence is a trait a majority of the populace lacks. A lot of people seem to exhaust all other possibilities of blame-shifting or lying until it finally comes full-circle back to them, and the semi-smart ones will at least come clean about this mistake. The dumb ones will mutter under their breath as you walk away and continue their denial of reality. In some cases, people even go as far to pray on those who are otherwise uninformed and attempt to conform reality to them by brain-washing others wherein problems grow even larger. Throw in some victim cards along with maybe a stolen idealism to put behind your twisted reality, and you've got the components to amass an army of SJWs.

More directly on topic, sure, they are scenarios that need to be taken seriously when it comes to people's rights as a whole. Representations in the media should not be a valid concern until it is rid of the plague of yellow journalism that is the major news networks. People have become lazy, yet primal in a sense. It's allegedly more satisfying to be aggressive, completely destroyed someone, and then take their things instead of struggling through any disposition and creating something themselves. People also like to forget that the heterosexual white male is being attacked from all fronts now-a-days just because of their inherent initial presence in most of the developed world. Perfect equality will never be a thing nor will everyone be considered the same due to genetics, social, cultural, and religious differences. Everyone should strive to be decent and at the very least, respectfully tolerant of others' beliefs unless they cause physical harm. Intentionally going against social norms and/or expecting immediately results without putting in any real effort and basically giving yourself psychological damage is not the fault of the world.

Sorry Bane if this comes off as a personal attack, just debating this particular stance though.

Is this not exactly how you feel Maz? You make so many posts about how awful almost every person in this section is, how they are all missing your oh so obvious points. How Your views on feminism or trans issues or w/e are the only acceptable ones, and the rest of us should be quiet and listen.

But its not just you. Im pretty sure everybody thinks their own stance is obviously the right one Thats why people take those stances. Who would be like, yeah I'm an Atheist, but I still think God is the best explanation for the universe.

The bit you quoted is an example of the correlation/causation fallacy. Do these people likely feel terribly alone? I'm sure they do, because they pretty much are. Just being an atheist makes you a despised and untrusted minority in the U.S. Acknowledging that men very often have it worse than women, and being willing to call out the people who try to claim otherwise despite the evidence only further decreases your popularity. Most people think libertarians are crazy thanks to Ron Paul and his fanatics. But again, the point is that none of these common attitudes are evidence or rational arguments against those perspectives.
fwiw and as much as siding with Maz disgusts me, you are literally falling in line with the pathetically nihilistic picture he painted of you.

It's not nihilism to see reality for what it is. I know I don't have to explain to you that we have a serious problem in this country with people being scientifically illiterate, and unsurprisingly irrational to go along with it.

There's no way for you to defend yourself from the claim: Maz has effectively removed your ability to discuss your thoughts on account of claiming anyone who discusses them being a delusional person. Anything you post is just going to be pointed at as "SEE? HE'S DOING IT RIGHT NOW."

In other news, a self-declared feminist aborted her baby because it was a boy. Maybe. I can't get the original link to load.

It does pop up with a link from January 17th if you google search the URL but it gives a 403 error.

That being said, there's two hits for that pop up when I search the URL. One is the 17th (what I assume is the original article) and then the 18th, where it's a page of the writer responding to her original article.

I can get the Jan 18th article to come up a bit, but my work proxy may be causing it to be wonky.

    Abortion should not be illegal.

Gender-selective abortion, however, should be illegal in every civilized nation, and with a fierce punishment. That's pretty sick.

Making a willful decision to throw away one child while you would have kept it if it only it was another gender... I don't even know.

And the response the day after.

Edit: Still unsure of the veracity of this. The meat of the articles are stuck under "share our blog to unlock content" buttons that obviously don't work in text.

Taking off the mod hat for a moment, it occurs to me that this is the inevitable cost of pro-choice. There are always going to be stupid people, and people who insist on following the letter of the law rather than its spirit. You need look no further than BG for that; we have the shitposting rule to catch those very same people... but that only works because we're not a democracy and the stakes are low. So, following the logic that fetuses are not people, then the fetus in this case would simply be minor collateral damage for the greater good. As shitty as I think this woman is, I find her actions to be an acceptable cost for allowing other women the ability to make better decisions.

Mod hat back on. I can't/won't argue this point, but I thought it worth considering.

Something my sister said and I kind of agree with. Nothing against those that don't see it this way:

You can't state "You're pro choice" but then follow up with a "but only in situation "x"."

The woman has the right to choose. Regardless of her choice she should have that right.
At the end of the day, she has to be all right with that decision. Personally, it's not even that I feel the fetus is a human life, it's the potential of a human life. To me, it's not something that should be treated so flippantly.

entirely agreed, you can't issue some type of motivations questionnaire at abortion clinics that will determine access

but that doesn't stop one from stating there is something fundamentally morally disturbing about the Chinese and Indians and Koreans, among others, terminating millions of female fetuses because they can't stomach the idea of having a daughter

Doesn't seem like it was a true story. But like people said, you will always have some crazies who take advantage of any rights and freedoms that people obtain. You can't punish everyone's freedom because of the minority of crazy people, however.

Why it's not false to say 1 in 5 women are raped or faced rape attempt

A White House spokesman said: “In his comment, the president says nearly one in five women have been the victim of rape or attempted rape. When you combine the two instances — rape and attempted rape — the publicly available data from the Centers for Disease Control affirms that statement.”
Lets see, you're a girl who goes to a hospital for a STI/D check after hooking up with someone (which may or may not have been rape), what sounds better:
"yeah, I wanted to get dicked bad, but the guy didnt have a condom, and neither did I but I was soo horny, I wanted it, omg I dont even remember his name, he was cute though"
    or
"I was given alcohol and now I dont remember anything, I was assaulted!!"

    Theres probably a reason that
There are other surveys, using a different methodology, that show lower rates of rape
It sounds to me like the CDC is just taking every girl who goes in for a STI test, and is taking their word as fact. Meanwhile, every other survey is lower and reporting similar numbers to each other. But the CDC one is the most credible of them all...

Under the heading of “other sexual violence” — which the study said affected an estimated 53 million women and 27 million men — the report lists something called “sexual coercion.” This stems from a question concerning people who had sex after a partner did things like “telling you lies, making promises about the future they knew were untrue, threatening to end your relationship, or threatening to spread rumors about you.” About 15 million women and nearly 7 million men were said to suffer from this form of sexual violence, as defined in the report.
this was worth reading the entire two articles

Still, it turns out that almost 50 percent of the rapes reported by the survey depend on this drunk/high/lack of consent section. More than 9 percent of the women — which adds up to an estimated 11.2 million people — were classified as rape victims as a result of this question.
Seems we're back onto trying to draw the line on what rape actually is. I bet if I took this survey I would "admit" to being "raped" somehow. And be a rapist, too

It smells like they're trying to sell me snake oil wrapped in sensationalism. Thanks Obama.

but really, this is pretty crazy - even if the studies are off by a LOT... being off a lot from ~30 MILLION people is still way too high a number. It made me think twice about the possibility of women actually being subject to an unreasonable amount of sexual violence

Some surveys have the standards for rape so low sexual intercourse isnt even necessary. I'm not joking when you could be a virgin and be raped.

    >"I am logical MRA man, present to me EVIDENCE AND FACTS
    >Present evidence and facts
    >"LOL what's more likely, rape or bitches be STI or some bullshit"

No survey is perfect, but as the articles stated, the CDC methodology is agreed upon by PEOPLE IN THE FIELD to be the best methodology for use of this question. You know, scientists said it was more reliable than the other surveys.

But wait, just like how media has a liberal bias, I guess scientists have a feminist bias.
