In all honesty though you aren't socializing in the classroom during instruction unless its specifically an open debate sort of moment.
You have things like lunch period and after school to socialise.

Well how often did you have class discussions in Math class?
Classes like Gym and Art are for socializing and classes like Physics and Language Arts are for learning. With moments of discussion in each.

But seriously, if you actually think discussion in such classes as math, physics, and language arts are wrong and only for "learning", no wonder you are exactly how you are. There is no point in discussing it further because you do not have the mental capacity to understand how having social discussions in any class is a benefit. But just like a normal internet try hard you'll fight your losing argument to the death no matter what.

Not really. I just don't think there was really a reason to have a discussion in math and hated the class.
I loved talking in class.
Fast forward years later to college and I'm the only one who was really attempting conversation in Cisco CCNA, Linux, etc
Yeah, they are all pretty lame (and male) and quiet. The silence could be ridiculous even before class started.

Still doesn't change the fact we go there to learn first and socialize second. It's not like I really disagree with you. I just place a lesser importance on the required aspect of socialization in certain classes where its clearly meant more for others.
I'm not so ridiculous that I'd go on expecting anyone to see anything any other way because dis iz interwebz.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but socialization isn't just about actual interaction with another person. It's also about how to act in public and there are situations where you need to sit the fuck down, shut up, and not disturb the rest of the group.

Sure, and if you have unisex classrooms it hurts socialization - which is why socializing in the classroom became what this was about. But most people understand that, I really doubt anyone with any teaching experience and/or know-how about teaching will debate this much

Class participation is usually always a thing (teacher's gotta be r e a l l y bad to not include that), even in science and math classrooms, so kids at least listen/see students give confident vs unconfident answers, call out vs be respectful, and loud vs quiet. Anytime there's disciplinary action a student is at least learning whether or not that's good or bad. There are periods where kids work together on a lab in a science classroom - no, the lab is never ever 100% of the conversations had, and even it were... it's still socializing. In math there are times where you pair/group up to work on shit too. The time between classes in non-trivial, lunch, before school, after school, and despite you saying no, the time in the classroom had a lot of socializing too - even if it's jokes, complaining, talking all @ the teacher directly.. because students are watching that

If you had no socializing in the phsyics/math classroom you're lying or were the kid that was so absorbed in his own world (sever autism) that you didn't pay attention to anything anyone else was saying/doing

While some are still listing mild I see we have our first (maybe?) Report of of severe autism. In time I think that could grow into a legendary 'most autistic person to have ever lived' proportion.

Obviously, there's times socialization occurs in every class but that doesn't make them social classes (issue is this is decently subjective). Just because someone makes a joke doesn't mean there's this amazing level of socialization occurring.
I was the guy making that joke you referred to because class was never fun when it got quiet or serious. So I try to stir the pot.

You underestimate just how much socialization there is in school outside of the obvious one at lunch time when everyone is swapping pokemon. Just believe us on this.

Obviously when the teacher is lecturing there isn't much "talking" going on, but you're insane if you think there isn't much "socializing" taking place.

Note passing is essentially socialization too

Why even stop segregating kids at gender and race? Why not further separate them into smaller groups based on their personal learning style? There is a lot of variation in how kids learn over all either you work around it or you don't but you shouldn't stop halfway there.
