There's a funny image floating around on the interwebs that discusses how experiments with female-only vs. male-only societies have already been done, unintentionally. The Survivor series had sex-based groupings/islands in a couple different countries, and in every case, the women ended up nearly starving, with no shelters, and constant in-fighting, whereas the dudes just sort of automatically reformed society where everyone had a job and was otherwise really chill. I should try to find it again.

it was a foreign survivor series. By like episode 4 they threw in a "twist" and brought two chicks to the man island where they were worshipped and did nothing while the men still did everything. Then 2 men were thrown into the female island where they bitched and moaned and got them to do everything as they sat by the beach to work on their tan.

That's honestly a very weak argument which leaves more than a few gaps open for the standard slew of equally weak replies. Not enough time, oppressed for their whole lives, remnants of life with the patriarchy, etc. Plus the whole "roommate" thing reeks of strawman.

I'm not arguing against anything, I'm just saying that the Survivor thing linked last page isn't a good argument by itself, and certainly won't convince some of the more extreme fringes.

the extreme fringes don't matter at all with infographics like that. It's to make critical thinkers think "Hmmm... that seems.. interesting... is that right?" and then they look into things more and consider other opinions instead of what they're told on jezebel and other shiteater news sites

It's not good, period. It's a TV show. Science didn't even begin to enter that field. Anecdotal, poor sample size, and for all we know it was completely faked the whole way through for the ratings. Let's not even talk about latent / inherent bias that we'd normally have to sift / process on a peer-reviewed decently conducted social science study of the same vane.

This is like when people who put up pictures of Google autocomplete to prove a point... yeah, you do know how those functions work right? You're not proving anything other than localised interests which may or may not be attuned to you specifically depending on your settings / apps used.

Another example is when articles try to use neuro- anything with brain scan pictures to prove a point. You have proven nothing. I'm just going to point this study out to you instead and require a bit more effort made.

Science is hard, I guess.

On an unrelated note, I'm glad I don't keep social media. I'm sure this shit is still as prolific as it was in the past.

The fact it happened is funny, sure. The writeup attached to it about "hurr dumb bitches are so lazy they made my roommate stop being a feminist" is only funny in how poorly constructed it is.

If you were trying for funny front though, I'll concede to a secret dark part of myself still waiting for people to freak out about wolbachia and the nasty gub'mint intentionally testing it on mosquitoes to try and combat malaria and the like. Since you know, the wolbachia bacteria neuters males or outright turns them female and prevents new males from being born. I need this kinda conspiracy theory. The kind so completely devoid of science but still they tried you know? This other shit? It's just sad.

I could see tons of women flocking away from normal societies if they didn't have to rely on men for reproduction.

The mass rapes in Germany are a horrific thing that cannot be ignored, but I could only make it so far into that article posted before quitting it because it seems to apply that standard where feminists can apply labels to the entirety of the male gender when it's a total outrage to make a similar statement against women.

Just out of curiosity, are the media outside of Germany actually turning it into a mass rape? Technically, it was more along the lines of mass molestation, as I think there's only been one reported rape for Cologne and I'm not sure if there were any in Hamburg. Not like that makes it much better, though.

Having finished the article, I'd say the author's take belongs in PC Principal. What a dumbass. If you think it's "just" to destroy a man's life just because the media has convinced you of his wrongdoing, even after writing an article in which you talk about how the people involved were intentionally lying to garner media attention and fame, then you're an imbecile and the exact reason I react the way I do whenever people start shitting all over another human being just because of some bullshit hearsay they read about.
