Technically they did remaster several parts of FE1 for Shadow Dragon...it's just that aside from the Class Changing a lot of it arguably made the game worse.

I mean, I don't care much for the removal either but I find it hard to get invested when I'd venture a guess the creator(s) really don't give that much of a shit either.

And while I'll agree the US generally has a really odd relationship with sexuality in their media, the sexuality alone isn't why a lot of people don't like waifu stuff. I describe it as obnoxious because over time, waifu stuff has become so embedded into its cliches that its getting to the point of self-parody (and then arguably kept going). Note that I'm not even saying I don't like some of it myself in moderation, but being perplexed by why some people would be turned off by "just a head patting minigame" is kind of missing the point.

Also in regards to #FE- even if you want to discount the knee-jerk complains from the website comment shitposting brigades (which would be completely understandable), go look up how the game sold...in Japan.

    Too late bruuuuh.

I have no idea how deep the Waifu crap goes to be honest, i only have a passing understanding of the words meaning and the culture behind it from what i gleamed off BG here, but that head patting didn't seem so bad to me, it was kinda tame based on what I see from Japan. Which is where my confusion stems from.

Curious if it was just a bad game...

Sold like dogshit so that's the most likely scenario rather than any sort of cultural differences like homie was trying to imply.

Actually, #FE has been doing just fine in reviews and pretty much all the info about the actual gameplay suggests its more or less a Persona game with some FE characters thrown in. Almost all the rage related to the game (including the very video you posted) is over the fact it has so much waifu stuff and Japanese idol culture. And even if we ignored all that, we all know that plenty of terrible games sell well regardless so that's not a good indicator of anything.

Thanks for the continued confirmation bias though.

Not to say I disagree, but it would make no sense in comparison to FE which either flew under my radar or is JP exclusive, because the JP Version still has the Waifu stuff while the NA version is the only one having it removed. Having thought hard I can say it isn't entirely just "censorship" from us prude NA's as originally I believed entirely, it may be they actually think the NA market just doesn't enjoy that stuff and they could be right, which was precisely your argument to begin with (though I never argued against that)... but then we get back to my argument of it being an Optional, one off, side thing you could chose to ignore, but I can get JP companies leaning toward better safe than sorry in an NA market what with the climate.

Either way, As i mentioned some odd posts ago its not like I'll write the game off cause its not there, simply as always has been my argument, it just seems baffling as its way more benign than anything I've seen Japan make and in stuff thats actually already in games we have here.

I'd certainly say the same to you since you clearly don't know you're talking about.
If you trust any reviews that say the game is like Persona, you haven't done your homework at all.

Aside from the look of the game, its not Persona at all. Hell, it plays more like DDS than any Persona game. The dungeon crawling isn't like Persona, there's not social links or any of that kind of thing with character building through NPCs outside of your main party or pretty much anything that would make you say Persona. Unlike you, I actually know a thing or two about the game aside from how it 'looks' and I'd still say it being a shit game is probably the reason for its poor sales. If it were chalked up to cultural differences, it would have sold better. A crossover game between two popular franchises with both of them at or near the peak of their popularity coming out to such poor numbers despite being a good game..? Yeah, that doesn't really happen.

Define what you mean by "shit game". If by that you mean that the game from all appearances was nothing like what either fanbase wanted, I'll concede the point (since that was pretty much my point anyway and we're arguing over nothing). If by that you're just talking about the gameplay itself, then I would ask why it sold poorly from the week it released rather than doing well the first week and then dropping off.

Fair enough. For the record when I said it was like Persona, it was mostly due to what I've heard about the game's combat system (Heard it described as "Persona except with the FE weapon triangle" several times).

I'm hoping #FE will have a demo available when it releases Stateside. I was actually one of the many people who was mad about it looking nothing like FE or SMT, but I do still want to give the game a chance to impress me and I've heard mostly positive things from people who have played it.

Sorry for the derail- but you do see what I'm trying to say though, I hope? A lot of people refused to buy #FE right from the start because of how it looked despite the fact that several games in both the FE and SMT series have a lot of those same elements (albeit generally at a much lower concentration). If that wasn't the case, it should've done much better than it did on the first week before anybody other than reviewers had actually played it, even if you're right and it actually is a terrible game.

They literally just cut out the act of rubbing them. Everything else is still there.

Edit: Apparently no dual audio though so let the butthurt commence from that revelation.

So they just removed the interactions, but kept everything else. Well, Its now more confusing to me as to why they would bother to remove such an odd little detail but keep the... essence of said detail.

Not even sure what dual audio is.

Some people are reporting that their Walmarts/Targets have broken street date and have Fates on the shelves already.

I got my Awakening pre-order early but I poked around today and couldn't find anyone in my area who was breaking the street date. Just gonna do another lap around town on Friday looking for a Special Edition and if I have no luck I'll just buy Fates digitally.

Reviews are looking good -- Birthright is averaging an 88 while Conquest is averaging an 89.

Haven't followed this much but Birthright is only Hishido playthrough and Conquest is only Norh? No play through this side first then the other in the same game?

You can buy the other side for $20 as well as the DLC for another $20 (if you have a full copy of the game already).

I'm wasn't fully sure how it works -- I was under the impression you had a choice at some point, but then I found this (spoilered to be safe):

    Spoiler: show
Birthright and Conquest are two different games. Once the player reaches Chapter 6, they'll have the option to choose between them by continuing on the existing path, or by buying an "upgrade" of sorts to play the other version for $20.

Short version, they are separate games, you get to a point, you can either continue in your game or pay $20 to unlock the other path -- and it keeps that point, so you can jump to it if you want to playthrough the storyline after finishing one.
