How the fuck is American Sniper a contender for best movie? They just gave it best movie 5 years ago when it was done better and called The Hurt Locker.

except they aren't similar movies aside from the setting
they are saying this is the white oscars this year
no black, brown, yellow, or red
Alejandro González Iñárritu doesn't count? That nigga is brown. Anyway, I hope Birdman takes all them Oscars, but I think they be kissing Boyhood's arse, so idk.
JK Simmons needs to win best supporting for Whiplash.
Other then Selma, I can't recall a single movie this year that was a big hit with critics and worthy of an award. Not that Selma was worthy of an award.
So, not a lot of good movies come out with black actors and somehow that makes the academy selfish?
Excuse me if Madea Makes Another Movie isn't Oscarworthy.
Who gives a crap about the Oscars anymore anyway?
I'm just happy that Interstellar didn't make the best film category. I also think having Interstellar in the Sound Editing category is irony itself when I couldn't hear a damn thing they were saying half the time.
PGA Awards were last night. Boyhood was the favorite for best picture. 18 of the past 25 years they've predicted the best picture winner, including the last 7 years in a row.
They went with Birdman.
Yusssss
Unfortunately, the SAG awards have predicted best actor for the last 10 years, and they just gave the award to Eddie Redmayne.
Keaton nooooo
agreed
2nd half is oscar talk with RLM humor: http://redlettermedia.com/half-in-th...nd-oscar-buzz/
So as I've found out, the easy way, don't tell people American Sniper was a film that glamorized a guy who isn't a hero and doesn't deserve an Oscar.
Apparently people just don't like hearing that.
im not even sure what most of the drooling over the movie was about. coop wasn't even that great in it
murica
Edit: Read it wrong.
I haven't seen it, but I've heard it's typical war glorification propaganda.
Don't take this the wrong way, as I served in the Army and did deploy to the sandbox for a while back in the day, but as Americans we do like to pretend that killing people is high and honorable when it's in the name of Uncle Sam.
Haven't seen any of the films on the list. In fact, the only nomination I'd say I have any knowledge of is Meryl Streep in "Into the Woods," and she was pretty great, but overall, I'm not terribly invested in any of these nominations, or really award shows in general. Check out red carpet pics after the fact to see how my favorite actors look all glammed up, that's basically the extent of my interest.
I found American Sniper to be more about PTSD than anything else. It was ok, but really it's just an hour and thirty minutes of B.Coops ignoring people who are trying to talk to him.
it being nominated isn't really surprising but if it wins it will be worse than crash winning a while ago
american sniper:
the shot on the roof I went lol and rolled my eyes
