I mean the one in the XIV vid is done by Soken and not Uetmasu; it's sped up and weird reverby yeah, but I assume they'll prob use that.

There's two versions of Battle on the Big Bridge in XIV. The one for Enkidu+Gilgamesh in Big Keep is a straight rip from FF5 I think, but the mano e mano w/ Gilgamesh in Big Keep and Big Bridge is done by Soken. Dragon's Neck is a straight rip from FF6 I'm p sure too.
The ffxiv version's tempo is too fast, especially at the end of each flute rift. It used to be like a whole note, but in this version is like a quarter note. Makes it sound less mystical and more like a middle eastern indian sound.
Meh, I always Goobbue it up anyway.
Yeah... they aren't adding X-Zone/X-Fer, lol.
Everything else seems pretty possible, however. They talked about adding Magitek companions before (around 2.3 release?) and said we could expect them with Expansion release or a little bit after. They also said they won't add it until they are fine with the current Chocobo Companion system.
Just for relevance:
http://www.alienwarearena.com/articl...Naoki-Yoshida/Separately, chocobos and Magitek will be implemented as mounts. In addition, from launch, chocobos will also serve as player companions that fight alongside you in battle. Magitek is also scheduled to become available as companions later on. As such, minions will serve as pet avatars and chocobos and Magitek will serve as companions.

Mr. G: They plan all the monsters and boss battles. Normal enemies are programmed to follow gambits (what actions to take when).
Yoshi P: You may be familiar with the system from FF12, in 14 that system was utilized by the monsters. (Hinting about utilizing that system for players, with magitek armor).
# Q25: Will we be able to listen to the music that we heard at the start of of the show when you showed the magitek armor in-game?
# A25: Generally, the in-game music is created based on the scene. However, with this particular music, Music Director Soken went all out and created it strictly from the images that were released on the blog. Soken mentioned that he has no regrets creating the music! Since the music wasn't something that we requested, we'll try to use it if we can find a good fit for it. #----------------------------------------------------------
f; we saw the magitek armor, can you listen to the bgm that played in-game?
y; you know how there is that blog by blogger M and how she released that magitek armor blog and at midnight that night, I got a mail saying I made it with full energy, i have no regret.
y; so really there was nothing
f; he just create it
y; so we were talking about riding is important but also to make sure it’s used in the right spot at the right time
y; don’t want to tell our customer we just made it out for no reason
y; I would like to tell them we made it like this for this type of scenery and feel.
f; so for answer, once we have a place for that bgm we may be able to listen to it.
y; well if others push and say they want to listen anywhere then the sound director might say he feel sorry for others and we will look into this moving forward.

# Q24: Will it be possible to customize or add color to magitek armor?
# A24: We are creating them so that they can be customized and colored. We are also thinking about implementing content involving playing with both chocobos and magitek
#----------------------------------------------------------
f; related to magitek armor, can you customize parts, or change color of magitek armor?
y; I think we received that question in the past as well, but we have made it so you can and for chocobo and magitek armor to make contents where you can enjoy them so ..
f; please look forward to it.http://zantetsuken.net/news/ffxiv-up...-magitek-armorQ24: Will it be possible to customize or add color to magitek armor?
A24: "We are creating them so that they can be customized and colored.
We are also thinking about implementing content involving playing with both chocobos and magitek."
Q: Please tell us about the details of the FFVI-style Magitek armor. Will we be able to use it in battle?
A: Unfortunately, we don’t have such plans at the moment.
That said, the Magitek armor is very popular among players,
so the team is coming up with lots of ideas for it, like with chocobos.
It will be receive special treatment, A coeurl mount is also currently in-development.
What's the point when there's no real content you can bring companions to anyway?
The only thing they're good for is soloing FATEs while leveling a new job.
They'll add the magitek companion, it'll be a neat novelty for a bit, then it'll never get used again because you can't bring them anywhere.
Won't even be terribly useful for leveling to 60 after the expansion because everyone is gonna be doing dungeons/FATE parties together.
They should let you attack things while riding your Magitek. It's weird to fight alongside you Magitek instead of piloting it yourself.
Magitek pvp! Fuck it, they can make a whole MMO based on Magitek. Magitek are so underused in FF. Moogles and Chocobos are in every FF ever but mechs made from the harnessed energy of dead/enslaved Summons used by humans to combat the very same things was always a cool idea to me.
Idk about boosters, i like the steampunk aspect they currently have.
Riiight, an entire party slot taken up by what is essentially a pet from an ilvl 90 SMN with even less HP.
Unless they plan on expanding the fuck out of chocobo/companion enhancement or make their stats scale in some way with ilvl they will always be worthless.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to be able to gear my chocobo and give it gambits and shit and have my own little strong, custom companion, but SE is not gonna go through the trouble of creating and balancing that shit when you can't use them in 95% of the game's content anyway.
This is likely going to happen. I can't find the source material, but Yoshi-P more or less likened a magitek companion to FFVI's Magitek command. Then again in the storyline your Magitek mount is a sentient being so either or (or both) may happen. Essentially it should be the former because they have already added cosmetic attacks to the mount anyways.
IIRC this is a programming interface problem which they've been working on for a while now. They never said it's impossible, only that it would take some time. I can imagine then working on it a while after the expansion is released (3.1, 3.2). It will be a problem they will need to resolve because of all of the new dungeons & duties that will be added in the near future with said expansion.
Anyone else hoping 3.0 will bring back the race-specific weapon stance animations from 1.0? It sucks that when they sped up animations to improve combat speed that all skills look so bland and awkward. Compare 1.0's beautiful Chaos Thrust to 2.0's Chaos Thrust. Also characters had weight and inertia in 1.0(motion capture animations, when turning your character shifter their weight/shoulders in the direction you were turning and had weight to their motion)
I like how Spirits Within actually looks really good in 1.0 and the stance while holding the sword looks legit and realistic, and not arcadey like ARR PLD sword stance. Hope they bring back 1.0's high res animations.
Notice when the PLD runs and then stops running, they take an extra step because of momentum and inertia. In 2.0 we stop on a dime and it seems so fake and plastic.
I get that's it's slow to people who only play WoW and FFXIV, but for players who played FFXI, 1.0 battle system wasn't too bad and animation locks weren't so bad
Look how much better these animations are! It's like a fine wine compared to the Kool-aid sped up animations we have now!
They already said no they aren't adding race specific battle animations
