I straight up don't get what's so terrible to them about autism. When it's recognized early, many kids can learn to socialize and interact almost as normally as their peers. It's not nearly as debilitating as some people make it out to be. I mean yes, there's a spectrum and some forms are more severe than others, but it's not something from which a child will die or suffer immense amounts of pain.

Like honestly, I would think the fucking measles, which can kill your kids, would be a much worse fucking fate than having autism. And I do recognize that I don't know everything about either disorder but dude. If you truly believe that vaccines cause autism then your line of thinking goes something like: "Hey, I'm gonna let my kids probably get and spread this deadly disease so they don't have a small chance to get and not spread this non-deadly disorder." Like, what? Which is worse? A dead child or an autistic one? Hmm. So even if you believe vaccines cause autism I really don't fucking get why you'd want to risk your kids contracting something that has a high likelihood of killing them.

I agree with you Akysanni. It baffles me how autism still has such a stigma and it's not the end of the world.. I would think losing your child would be. I gave a great online friend who was only diagnosed with autism as an adult at 25 and it gave her answers and reasoning behind things, it helped her to know why. She's an incredible parent to her kida, a great wife and person I adore. I also have friends whose kids have autism on varying spectrums but they embrace them no different. I think people really just want something to blame on their "imperfections" which is such a toxic outlook. We all are fucked up in some way and not one of us will ever be perfect. I for one don't feel it should be allowed for unvaccinatted kids to attend public school UNLESS medical clearance is given in writing and must be submitted that they cannot. I remember attending school they didn't let people get away with this shit and it needs to stop.

Really, to me, that's the most upsetting part. They are basically saying that dieing from an easily preventable illness is better than being autistic. If you follow that logic to it's conclusion, it's saying autistic people should be dead.

That's about the time when I stop thinking of them as people.

Well, deaths from these extremely preventable illnesses (measles, mumps, pertussis, rubella) are exceedingly rare in America even for the unvaccinated.

Um, that's because the majority of people developed immunities. They wouldn't be so rare these days, especially considering the rise of nosocomial infections, if there weren't vaccinations.

That's kind of like saying "Polio is rare, so we shouldn't worry".

Not to mention, if enough people stop vaccinating, the diseases can mutate into a form that we have yet to develop a vaccine for, which could fuck up people even after they have been vaccinated. It's entirely possible that these diseases could make a comeback, and the best way for them to do it is if people stop vaccinating their kids. I'm no scientist but I understand enough science to know that shit mutates and can easily become resistant to vaccines. And that's fucking terrifying.
