Once you're famous, trying to keep anything private is next to impossible. She probably felt it was for the best to come out instead of it just showing up randomly out of nowhere.

i haughtily dismiss the Kardashians in an attempt to establish superiority as readily as the next person but transgender individuals are perhaps the most discriminated subsection of society and a world famous Olympian / reality TV celebrity personalizing the cause is a good thing
