The Trans panic defense doesn't exist and has never been used as a defense for why a straight man attacked or murdered a trans woman or trans person. Nope that's an opinion.
And thank you, go away. That's all anyone wants is for you to stop and go take a nap and forget your login

what? how does that apply?
"In these cases, defendants have argued that their violent behavior was a rational response to discovering that the victim was LGBT."
in this opinion piece they are trying to establish the premise that men want to date trans women but don't because they are ashamed, they wouldn't be the ones to have a violent reaction to discovering something. i don't think you read what you post, i don't know why it's allowed to continue, i really don't
I think it illustrates a deeper need for connection that goes beyond physicality and our perceptions of sex and intimacy. While not definitive it definitely is fascinating from a psychological perspective as well - that the men in question are not attracted to men yet a penis isn't a turn off and they are attracted to self-identifying females.
I honestly would research it if I could. That could be ground-breaking shit there.
Humans can only have one emotion at a time and there's no depth to their emotional range. Here: you can be ashamed of dating/sleeping with someone and still do it and be afraid of what could happen if people found out i.e. fear. Emotions lead to powerful and often times illogical actions. You can be attracted to trans people and still ashamed of it just like closeted gay men. You don't want anyone to know and if people do find out the range of what can happen can include many actions from lying to violence which has happened before and is documented that men have beaten their secret lovers when the secret was exposed.
i'm sure to some extent it's true, as i previously stated in my very first post that i got infracted for, i feel like we've known this for a long time. everyone has different niches and attractions and turn ons or turn offs. an opinion piece isn't the way to establish things though, i get that it gets you thinking but i was under the impression that's not what this section of the board was for. not to mention milkster specifically quoted and said he was being educational, when you shouldn't be educating yourself on opinion pieces. imagine me posting an opinion piece in the trump thread about how hes the greatest president of all time with a bunch of interviews with republicans and no facts at all, period. i would get torn up.
Lol I never posted I was being educational when I posted that article or even anything other than posting it. You're trying to connect two non related posts. This a whole mess boo boo.
Literally noone is saying the interview of 4 randoms dudes isn't an opinion piece. You are arguing against something that never happened.
nowhere in there does that lead me to believe that this section is the place for baseless, contextless opinion pieces from vice3) Things that belong here:
a) News stories, political discussion pertaining to US and international politics, movements, developments, elections, governmental programs, wars, etc. There's a thread in general for gossipy or strange news stories that don't pertain to governments or social issues.

nothing about a contextless, baseless opinion piece is philosophical, sorry
Philosophy : the most basic beliefs, concepts, and attitudes of an individual or group
Come on dude.
Are you being a dick on purpose? Just trolling? Are you 100% serious when you are making up arguments that noone claimed or saying philosophy has nothing to do with people's opinions? What is it?
explain how a contextless, baseless opinion piece falls under the definition of being a philosophical piece.
i also love how my trump example is casually ignored. this is prob the part where you say something along the lines of "well i tried." and peace out as per the norm when you get involved.
come on dude
Stop doubling down on the definition of philosophy.
There are so many different philosophical beliefs that a multitude of different people from a myriad of different countries, times, and classes has written and spoken of. If you don't think philosophy is something that is strongly based on the opinion of an individual before it becomes a more mainstream thing I dunno what to say.
You don't speak about philosophy without talking about an individual's thoughts. Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Locke, Nietzsche, etc. Their thoughts on different subjects, such as ethics, developed into schools of thought such as humanism and nihilism, but they were based entirely on their own view of the world around them and the subject matters in which they spoke/wrote of.
oh boy, so you're basically saying plato, locke nietzsche had no facts or evidence and were making baseless and contextless opinions when they were establishing their theories? hahahaha
it's just the usual disagreeing with me, if what you're all saying is true though this thread should absolutely not be in politics: advanced shitposting, it should be in general discussion
