If my memory serves me, Clinton's camp was alleged to have circulated a picture with Obama dressed "like a muslim" and although they denied it, they were basically attacking Obama for being upset about having to defend himself over the bullshit. Her campaign also had staffers that resigned after other muslim/birther nonsense. To this day, she has never denied or apologized any involvement. Typical Hilldog.

I guess my point is that even things that are strictly factual are shaped by the messenger, and when the messenger's ethical credibility is flawed, it might be better to simply go to other sources. I understand your point and am not trying to say the things he presents are not true, but I'm just uncomfortable looking to someone with a history of plagiarism as the messenger/gatekeeper, especially when there are so many other options out there now. In the interest of discussion we'll probably just have to disagree on that point though.

I can respect that position and I understand now after giving it some more thought and clarity. Perhaps because I see things objectively I don't attempt to put much feeling into examining the person who's conveying messages (unless it's like Peter Jennings or Bill O'Reilly), other than taking out what facts I can and double/triple checking for validity. To me, it's a waste of time to completely throw away an opinion of a person because they've been immoral in the past.

There are definitely way more options than the Sunday variety for sure, though I've seen that Sunday has a good leg of shows on that has real meat on politics without all of the day to day bullshit that gets focused on.

Bernie can talk all he wants about what the real problems are and the solutions. But even supposing he can win (which he can't), it doesn't matter. He gets elected, Citizens United doesn't automatically goes away. He gets elected, it doesn't mean he can ram Medicare for all through. He gets elected, it doesn't mean he can raise the minimum wage to $15.

Governing is going to require working with a House of Representatives that will be (R) dominated for the foreseeable future. A bloc of voters that consider his platform absolute anathema.

Hillary is willing to play the game, trade chits, and be the typical politician. And that's how she will get shit done.

You think that viewpoint is why she's part of the problem. That viewpoint is why she would be a better President than Bernie, even if she's wrong on the issues.

*slowbro* While I'll certainly agree a number of things are better now than they were in the past, one of my future concerns is population growth relative to job growth and future technology removing current jobs from the pool for the usual reasons of safety, speed, and efficacy. Could also say this directly ties into minimum wage and/or college debt concerns. So, while I may agree that someone working part-time in 10-20 hour capacity may be a shit standard, the fact 35-40 hour work weeks don't provide reasonable and comfortable living for a lot of people is something we need to work on.

See above. I never said he was a bad Senator; not once. I said that the agenda and platform he is running for President on is too ambitious to get him elected, and too ambitious to pass.

Case in point, take the the number one example in that video -- subtle measures attached on other bills that have opened clinics. How is that in any way comparable in scope to the still unaccomplished goal of a single payer system?

It's not. And if he was elected, the situation doesn't change. It doesn't matter how fervently the part of the country that elects him believes in his message when there's a significant portion that treats it as anathema and sends a controlling share of the House of Representatives to Washington to do nothing but be obstinate.

So Bernie wants to reconfigure the way we think about and pay for higher education. Great. But even if you agree with that platform, an entirely free college education to anyone who wants it is not going to happen in the next eight years. So we're likely to get something milder, more akin to what Obama has already promised regarding community colleges.

So then what's the point of voting for Bernie if those big promises aren't going to come through? Because he campaigns on them rather than campaigning on reality?

Or do you really think nothing positive will get done under Clinton?

In the minimum wage world, service type jobs are a huge expense companies are trying their best to get rid of. If they can figure out a way for the consumer to do the job themselves, they are definitely heading that way. Been working at the same theatre for 12 years. In the past 3 years, no more projectionist since they went all digital (ugh, not my preference). Movie doesn't start on time or there is a problem? Better track an employee down and let them know since there is no longer an actual person keeping an eye on it. They have started sending all content over satellite, and rumor is movie playlists will soon be made by some guy in corporate and autoshipped to theatres. We keep 1 person in the box office to encourage using the self-serve kiosks or to buy them at home. Lets make the candy machines more prominent so we can keep the concession employees to a minimum. I'm waiting for them put out some sort of self-serve popcorn dispenser so they can get rid of concession workers period.

Honestly, with the exception of the human reaction to the experience being "abso-fucking-lutely not", not even doctors, nurses, or surgeons are safe from being completely trivialized by robotics within our own lifetimes.

Really, extend that to any and all fields, including mine.
