2016 USA Presidential election thread I: The warm-up

My parents used to love Carson (like, my mom has a bunch of his books from before he became political, made us read them, etc -- think I actually did a book report on his first book back in grade school..), but even they're out of his camp now. Some of the stuff he says is just too much..

Reminds me of Ron Paul. Looks good at first glance, until you start paying attention to all the crazy shit he says.

Well, before he became political, he was a pretty inspirational figure -- African American from Detroit who went on to become a neurosurgeon at John Hopkins. If I remember correctly, he had a lot of crazy things happen to him too that inspired his faith (he almost killed someone as a kid and almost died in a car accident).

But yeah, I only really knew him from his books (which, like I said, I read in grade school), so it was more than a little shocking when he came into the spotlight and started making ridiculous statements.

Which is the part about whoever is the next president is likely to have to replace some supreme court judges. Which is definitely another reason for me to vote for the D just in case.

Hillary/Castro Ticket would be pretty much unstoppable despite whoever they throw out there. Only person I think that could make a good contention against Hillary and win would be Huntsman...but then, he is logical and sane thus would not stand a chance in the current GOP/Teabagger Group. Still hoping for a Booker/Castro ticket for possible 2020 or 2024.

Like I said earlier in the thread, Huntsman was the first one to be out of the GOP ticket in 2012. He's too sane to make it.

Dr. Ben Carson is the guy whos got my vote. I think hes the least of all evils. Yes hes [R] but hes the only guy that seems to not have his head up his ass. Aside from the dumb comment about how going to prison turns ppl gay he does truly seem like the best candidate for the job.

I cant handle 4 more years of another Bush, and Hilary already ran this country 1x in the 90's and gave us NAFTA which screwed us even more.

He's extremely socially conservative on the hot-button social issues. The whole prison turns people gay thing was just a glimpse into it. Regardless of where the rest of the country is doing, you can be assured he will push hard for the country's lost morality.

The only economic issue he's weighed in on is healthcare where he's all about privatization despite all the positive evidence that Obamacare has worked.

He's basically just a smarter version of Herman Cain. I'll take Hilary over that.

Every election has the dems sitting comfortably thinking that there's no way they can lose. I think that alone helps push low voter turnout and screws them over.

Bush, while not a very bright bulb, did not fall into the same type of extreme right that most of the gop candidates since then have been.
