Renewable is not a candidate for the generation having this discussion, not a realistic one. We will see it for our children, or for their children, but not for us.

There are two candidates in the race. Traditional and nuclear. One person will support traditional (most likely) with a hope of supporting funding towards the other two. The other person opposes nuclear and traditional, but with a hope that maybe he will reverse his stance on nuclear.

One keeps the status quo while doing nothing to directly inhibit the progress of nuclear power. The other wants to upset the status quo and also inhibits the progress of nuclear power. And for what it's worth, as an educated voter who has formed his opinions over many years, I don't think for one second Bernie would actually upset the status quo to any meaningful or lasting degree.

Honestly, I really just do not agree with your assessment of things. I can see where you are coming from, I just don't agree.

I'm talking about natural gas fracking, not for shale oil (your link). That's a whole other issue.

I would imagine that the figures for natural gas would look very similar. Operation costs are an absolute joke in hydraulic fracturing. The cost of the cocktail used to drill and labor together accounts for like two-thirds of the budget. I'll try to find one that breaks down the costs for natural gas.

At this point, it just seems like the Republican voter base snapped somewhere in the middle of being goaded during the last two presidential terms and is preparing for some kind of political apocalypse.

You'd think that the voter base, who is exceptionally concerned with being fiscally conservative, would realize voting in Trump or Carson would be an exceptional trap for them all.

I think the word "conservative" no longer means what it should mean. More like "anything not named liberal," even if the belief is similar.
